Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $2700.00

Summary:
If you've ever listened to speakers that brought tears to your eyes, you will appreciate my experience with Revel's M20 and C30. I began my search for audiophile-grade home theater speakers approximately 3 years ago, with criteria of: 1) precise soundstage, imaging and clarity; 2) solid dynamics; and 3) open, translucent center channel. In short, I was looking for audiophile speakers that would perform equally well in home theater. My search began with Aerial Acoustics, Avalon, B&W, Dynaudio, JM Lab, Proac, Revel, Totem and others, and in the end the Revel’s were the clear victor. Now, after 3 months of ownership, I can honestly say that I would be hard pressed to find a better sounding bookshelf and center channel combination. I know longer watch movies, I participate in them. I know longer listen to multi-channel recordings, I conduct them. These speakers are so open, natural and dynamic that they will unleash your emotions like never before, as long as you match them with the proper components. The Revel M20 and C30 are very detailed speakers with wonderful mid bass but they tend to roll off at the top end, so match them with components that will compliment this characteristic - perhaps Krell, Classe’ or Parasound.

Strengths:
Voices are crystal clear, very open, and natural. Best I've ever heard.

Weaknesses:
None

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $1600.00

Summary:
This center channel is incredible. I guess to me the most amazing thing about it is its ability to fit into such a wide verity of placements and match the main speakers. I have come to realize with this speaker you can’t just put a speaker in as your center channel and hope for the best. The timber between speakers won’t match. Try this. Use the level checking noise on your surround sound decoder and notice how it changes when you switch between your front speakers. In a perfect environment they would all sound the same. With this center channel you have the ability to make that happen to a greater degree than with any other I have seen or heard. Highly recommended. The sound. Like all other Revel speakers. Highly dynamic, and very flat. What you should expect from your speakers. What you put in you get out. One other advantage is this speaker is very efficient which makes it easy to drive to realistic levels.

Strengths:
Many

Weaknesses:
Few

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
