Strength:

Good Soundstage,Fidelity of sound and Build quality.

Weakness:

Overpriced And Somewhat overrated

THese speakers are really not worth the money that you would have to cough up in order to buy these speakers.
If you were to close your eyes and listen to these speakers and then to the BMW nautilus speakers you wont here a significant difference in sound, that which would favor the Nautilus series. If you must have THX speakers, The better investment would be on the M&K THX speakers. Overall these speakers are decent but in my opinion these Onkyo speakers are not as good as the M&k speakers or the Nautilus series speakers.

This speaker system is powered by a Yamaha RX-V 795 and with my RCA 5510 DVD player sounds very good. Especially considering the clearance price from Sound City of $850.00 plus shipping, anyone else who picked up this system got a fantastic buy. It was a risk I took not knowing anything about Onyko speakers, but one I certainly don't regret. I'd like to know what others think about this speaker system. I have no reservation in giving this 5 stars.

I agree with the rating for this set. I purchased them for $850 from Sound City and have had no regrets, despite one of the speakers having a defective woofer (which was eventually replaced for free by Onkyo). I could not normally afford speakers in this class. The subwoofer (powered dual 12") alone is nearly worth the asking price. I did a little hunting on the web and it looks like these normally sold for $3,499 in the US (and still sell for that much or more in Europe). Wow!
I have heard better speakers, so I'm not going to give Onkyo five stars. But this was certainly a great deal for those who managed to pick it up.

Strength:

Incredible Imaging, Superior Base, Highs, and Mids.

Weakness:

So far I heard.... NONE!!!

These are by far the best sounding speakers I have heard. I picked them up for 300 Bucks... (Yes I did) The Base, Highs and mids are perfect. They match perfectly with my velodyne sub. All exept the sub is from Onkyo.

My System:

Onkyo TX-DS55
Onkyo DX-C340
Emerson VCR
Onkyo HTS-2 System
Infinity RS3
Velodyne CT100
All Monster Cable

I will soon buy the Onkyo DVD PLayer. This system is also THX Ultra Certified.. Don't believe me?! Go to www.thx.com and look at the products. It will tell you that they are THX Ultra Certified.

Strength:

Good DVD move audio, durable cabinets, nice imaging, decent bass.
Center speaker matches other 2 perfectly in sound reproduction in a slightly smaller cabinet.
Cheap price for THX certified speakers.

Weakness:

Main speakers are tall and thin and tend to fall over. They need to be placed up 3 to 4 inches on a base for best imaging.
Subwoofer, once I played some low bass songs on it, now squeaks during low bass excursion. Very annoying. Using a real time analyzer shows a vicious drop at 4000hz... Does this mean there is a driver out of phase?
CD sound reproduction is less than spectacular, as this system is meant for movie watching.
Highs seem a bit dull.

Anyone else have the same bass issue that I have? Just wondering if there's a fix other than replacing one of the 2 subwoofers... Thanks.
