Strengths: Very emotionally satisfying to listen to for long periods of time. Very transparent and wonderful to listen to at low volume, gentle delicate treble response and beautifully realistic mid range. Bass is tight and can be fine tuned by adjusting the subwoofers.
Price: The Ovation is actually made in Melbourne, so it is an excellent buy for Australian music lovers.
Weaknesses: NoneBottom Line: The Note Perfect Ovation is a truly wonderful loud speaker. I have owned a pair for four years and I still sit back every day and marvel at the beautiful music they produce.
The Ovation is at its best with jazz, classical and acoustic music. Even at very low volume, they fill my room with full bodied rich music. They have a very natural tonal quality that really draws you emotionally into the music.
They sound the most satisfying with the grills removed and with each speaker pointed directly at the listener. I also prefer the Ovation' sound without the spikes that are supplied. With the spikes attached everything is tighter, but the sound loses its seductive alluring quality.
The sub woofers attached to the rear of each speaker are critical to the sound and when switched off, the Ovation loses some of its three dimensional presence.
I continue to upgrade other components in my system, but have felt no need whatsoever to even look at any other loud speaker.
