Price Paid:  $475.00 from LaSalle Electronics

Summary:
I was lucky to find these speakers. I have had them for ten years with no problems. They have been hooked to a Technics SA-GX650 Home Theater receiver the whole time. They sound as good as the day I bought them. I love it loud and my neighbors love these speakers. They sound great. If anyone has a pair to sell, I'm at SOgle@cfl.rr.com.

Strengths:
These speakers handle any volume with no loss in sound quality.

Weaknesses:
They are big. With this quality, that is not a weakness, though.

Price Paid:  $425.00 from audio-direct.com

Summary:
I got these for a steal off audio-direct.com, for only $210 per speaker plus a whopping $5.00 for shipping! IT was a screw up on their part, but my gain. They took months to finally ship them to me, but it was well worth it. Now for the speakers, they SLAM... I have them running off a Onkyo TS-676 receiver which only puts out 85watts per channel, but it''s high current, so it''s the same as 150w on a normal cheap receiver. They shake everything, the walls, floors, everything on the shelves, EVERYTHING! Get these and you won''t be dissapointed. I bought them because I had MTX subs in my car which were awesome, and these are no different. They extremely well built, high quality, and guaranteed to please you.

Strengths:
Two 12" subs in each speaker!!! Handle 350w RMS each! They''re HUGE! Impressive looking! and most importantly, THEY SOUND F%^KING UNBELIEVABLE!

Weaknesses:
Heavy to move around because they''re MASSIVE! Wait a minute, that''s a good thing to when you think about it!

Price Paid:  $450.00 from careys

Summary:
I bought these speaker about three years ago with an Onkio 8511 reciever and Onkio EQ. They have spent half there life at about 12:00 on the volume control and are responsible for many nick-nack deaths that were blamed on the cat!!! For the price these are the best sounding most bullet proof speakers I know of. I now use them with my Onkio 656 reciever and a Klipch 12 inch sub. They work great together for a home theater system. The bass out of the MTX's alone is enough (but if you got the hook ups you might as well use them right).I would STRONGLY recommend these speakers to anyone !!!!

Strengths:
sound,price,house shaking bass!!!

Weaknesses:
none

Review 4 of 14

Price Paid:  $250.00 from Radio & TV Equip.

Summary:
These speakers are BY FAR the greatest product FOR THE MONEY perhaps EVER OFFERED. Ive owned then for about 6 yrs and NEVER had a days worth of trouble. Primarily have run them off a Yamaha AVX100U with the aid of a Yamaha GE30...and the entire BLOCK hears it!! I have them perched atop my 1970s vintage ATLANTIS mahogany cubes with the 15"woofs(MTX reloads) and the smoked glass tops...each stack is about 6 ft high and ROAAAARS!! If you can still find them GET THEM NOW!! Thanks to my good friend Darrin at Radio & TV Equip. who turned me on to these bad boys.

Strengths:
Power Handling Capacity and DURABILITY

Weaknesses:
Tweets are somewhat subdued

Review 5 of 14

Price Paid:  $400.00

Summary:
I think that I have offended some people that have purchased these speakers. I think I should explain my possition. When I bought these speaker (MTX AAL2230b) I was struck buy them! They were the second best sounding speakers in the shop only to a set of Infinity speakers that were twice the price! The specs were impessive! The sound was good. It didn't take long though for The first of the quality problem to show up. At first it was just a simple internal wiring problem (wires inside started to touch each other, resulting in a popping sound and thakfully no amp damage!) Since I have replaced the mids, and now one of the main drivers has gone south, hence the recent review on my part. For the first part of thier life they were used mildly in a theater setting. Now they are in my rec room being used with a 250 watt amp that I have used with many other set of speakers with much less impressive specs and have never really had problem. So, Dennis if you want to buy a set, maybe you will have better luck than me, they do sound good, but, I'll stick with my feeling that they do not live long under severe use. Maybe I was a little more harsh then I should have been, but it had only been about fifteen minutes since the driver had expired when I wrote the review! LOL

Strengths:
sound

Weaknesses:
Quality

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
