Summary:
Wow!...if you thought the classic ROgers ls 35a blew your hair back with vocals you have to auditon these small but extremely well built speakers...their c-cam drivers and first order crossover create a very seamless sound...one that rivals planars and Quads...a little pricey at $1100 but you do get what you pay for...although there is no bass below 50hz... THEY SOUND THEIR BEST IN VERY SMALL ROOMS...THAT SHOULD BE NO SURPRISE..

Strengths:
Incredible holographic vocal reprodution
first order crossover
exceptional build quality
THE BEST METALLIC TWEETER I HAVE EVER HEARD...VERY DETAILED BUT VERY SMOOTH

Weaknesses:
Sound there best in very small rooms
bass is very musical but limited
a bit pricey for a mini-monitor

Summary:
One note before you read on, I am evaluating the Monitor Audio 2.5 speakers. The main difference between the Monitor 2 and 2.5 is that the 2.5 is ported in the front of the speaker versus the 2's which are ported in the rear. They each have a 6.5" mid/bass polypropolene driver and Monitor Audio's fantastic gold dome aluminum tweeter.

I purchased these as the rear channels to my home theater. To break them in, I obviously listen to these playing music for about two months. I was very impressed with the lower midrange (especially the drums and acoustic guitars). As with all Monitor Audio speakers the gold dome tweeter is excellent! However, if you plan to use these as your main speakers, purchase a very good sub woofer to go with them. With the proper sub, it would be no problem using these as your main speakers.

Strengths:
Excellent low midrange thru high end presentation and soundstage.

Weaknesses:
BASS!
