I got these speakers to put on my Marantz PM7200, I set them up using bi-wiring and these babies can sing !!, the base is precise but not overly clinical, the mids and highs are sweet. I cant get over how good these sound given their age, the Marantz'z warm tone is a great match for these speakers given that they arent the basiest speakers out there,
Fantastic sounding speakers, get them if you see them going cheap, keep them if you have them already.

They may be quite an old product now but just had to write how impressed I am with this bargain find on a well known auction site.

Firstly these speakers have to be positioned carefully. I made the mistake of having them too far away from the rear wall and toed in. Like this they sounded bright with no punch to the bass. They also didn't do quiet to medium listening. I had to crank the volume up to party levels to get any decent bass. Downside to this was the treble was way too harsh.

But ...and it's a huge but. When I sought advice from a hi fi forum I could not beleive the transformation in sound. By placing them just over a foot from the rear wall and firing straight down the listening room, absolutely no toe in, the speakers were transformed.

Bass is deep, very tuneful and detailed. You can pick out bass lines and get hooked on following them. The treble is no longer harsh, just keeping control before sounding gritty. The mid range is to die for. Putting it all together to make a very enjoyable listening experience. If you can still grab a good pair, don't hesitate to buy. These knock the spots off of my KEF q300's.

Just make sure you get them positioned right!

Original, flared cabinet 752's.
I have owned these speakers from new and they have been used in several, different sized rooms and everytime they have produced a great sound. Crisp, extremely detailed highs and mids with very tight, precise bass. Maybe lacking a bit of extension and 'Oomph' but this is put down to personal opinion and music taste.

The originals in my opinion are far better looking, with the METAL dome tweeter and mid/bass driver underneath the tweeter. Overall a great midrange speaker that will not dissappoint.

Strength:

Nothing that spectacular

Weakness:

Ordinary sounding

This is for the 752 Freedom:

I bought these becasue of the rave reviews, but found out they weren't that great.Quite dull and boring sounding speakers(even with a bright amplifier),with a light bass.
There are better speakers out there for the price, namely the Castle Acoustics,Tay,Eden and Avon.

I bought that Mission 752 for about two years. When I hooked it with a tube amplifier, it gave a very sweet sound for the female sound and violin. Bass is not so good for butt-kicking guys. But music is served to move your heart, not kick your butt.
Sound stage is terrific. One day, when I was puzzling why the Callas' version of Carmen was so different from another singer's sound, my wife passed by. She simply said: "Callas' voice is recorded far away from microphone." (A live recording?) This is really my first hi-fi lesson. For the imaging, when listening to a tuner, I can tell the height of the DJs (whether they are standing or sitting).

The building quality is also excellent. You can never find more beautiful floor-standing speakers in this price range. It is made in England, not by some OEM brand-marketing companies.

Please see my comparasion with my recent bough NHT Superzero + NAD gear.
Five-star to this high-quality Mission 752.

If you are looking for booming artificial bass, scooped midrange, and raging volumes, this is not your speaker. If, on the other hand you are looking for a superbly crafted, reasonably priced, reference speaker, with clear articulated (real) bass, clear transparent midrange, and an amazing lifelike reproduction of acoustic instruments, this may be your loudspeaker. The 752Freedom's are an amazing loudspeaker with such natural reproduction that most listener's aren't used to that level of detail, and thus may not be overly impressed to begin with. This is not a 30-second speaker, it is a speaker that will endlessley grow on you. I feel the only drawback to this speaker is it is very revealing of lesser grade equipment. So go out and take a long listen to these incredible speakers

State of Art design. Used it with Nordost Flatline biwire. Too good to describe. If this 752 has been undermined, mate it with a better speaker cable and you will not be disappointed. Trust me.

Got to agree with Tony!! It's an easy load to drive, but if you let it be driven by a more power full (and clean!) amplifier, you'll definitely be enjoying it more. (I'm using the McCormak DNA-1 to drive it)

The Mission 752 Freedoms are stunning!
The ultra light High Definition Aerogel bass/mid drive units and silk dome tweeters provide an extremely transparent, articulate and sophisticated sound that is fast, punchy and detailed. They sound powerful and dynamic in an organic, natural manner. In most rooms they'll happily produce clean, deep bass that is free from boom or overhang. They also have exceptional imaging, giving a real sense of stage depth and width.

The 752Fs worked particularly well with the Audiolab 8000s+p amplifiers and the Marantz 17 Ki-Signature CD player; communicating the scale, timbre, pitch, dynamics and emotion of every recording - they don't 'improve' music, they only reproduce it.

The Mission's 752F are great. They have good bass, and cleaner treble.
It only needs good partners.
In my sistem i work with Audiolab 8000A, and California Audio Labs DX-1, wired with Straight Wire, they only need more power, but not much money....:)
They look great, sound great, and not much pricier.
Very Good
