Summary:
Small in stature, grand in performance. These are very heavy speakers at 6kg each! and boy do they have a heavy punch aswell. Paying for and owning these speakers is like asking for basic Fish & Chips and a bottle of Coke and then being sevred Yangchenglake Da zha followed by a bottle of Louis Roederer's Cristal Champagne!!!

Quite simply,outstanding speakers Made in England.

Summary:
Should have written a review on this a long time ago. I've had these babies for almost 10 years now since it first burst into the scene early 90's. The first time I viewed them on what hifi magazine and read the reviews, I went to a local hi-fi store to check it out. I was already familiar with the Mission sound as at that time, I owned a pair of 760i bookshelf ones. But I needed a fix. Heard these blocks at the store and after a short audition, I snatched them up without any hesitation. Was the best purchase I made and never regretted buying them. There are a few things that made me fall in love with them. Firstly, the appearance. Style - with its upside down driver/tweeter combo which I thought was unique. Sound for sure. Clear, open, detailed, fast and agile. Able to follow transients in music with remarkable poise. Tight bass. Voices sounded like they were leaping from the speaker itself. Build -solid feel to the cabinet, elegant finish with good dimensions and weight. Doesn't look cheap. These I hooked up to my Audiolabs on top of Atacama stands and boy, did these give me years of listening pleasure until I relegated them to HT as rears....(that's another story)....Overall, a great buy and can accomodate almost any kind of music you want. Provides sufficient bass but if you're looking for real deep monster bass, then look elsewhere.

Strengths:
Sound - open, neutral, fast, detailed. Looks - sexy speakers, unique style Build - Solid, good size and dimensions. Quality finish. Biwirable Partnered with better components, these shine even more.

Weaknesses:
Not the deepest bass. Very revealing of source components. Some may find too forward sounding.

Summary:
I came across this pair of speaker at a second hand shop at sim lim sq. Thus out of curiosity went in for some listening, I was stunned by the warm and sweet sounding 751, and since it is a good offer at only $100. I took it home as an extra pair for my hi-fi set-up. I was total astounded by the sound. I have compared it to my M.A silver 4 and could not believe that it is even better than the M.A. The M.A is good but this Mission is even better. I suspects that it is even better than the 780 and M51 which I read from some older reviews

Strengths:
Superbly musical, warm and sweet sound, tight punchy bass, very involving and smooth, good clarity.

Weaknesses:
None at this price ( refering to original price).

Summary:
Being an electronics engineer, I have always had an interest in music and hifi reproduction since a toddler! Having built many countless pairs of speakers myself, listened to my dad''s journey through hifi during the late 70''s / early 80''s and visiting many friends houses during my university years auditioning speakers, I felt I knew what I was looking for. I play and compose my own music, and when listening to recordings the most important thing for me is detail, presence and a strong soundstage. I enjoy acoustic music mostly, for example unplugged sessions, mary black, light classical pieces (chamber especially), acoustic alchemy, and very open light female soul music. I need speakers that would give me all this, a powerful presence and 3D soundstage, sparkling but not grating top end and a tight but deep bass. I like to feel the presence of bass, not hear it, I HATE booming bass! Having realised that my budget was under £500, I knew I had some serious listening to do! I also needed something that wouldnt mind my sub-audiophile grade components, a Kenwood KAV8500 amplifier, at the time a basic CD624 philips bitstream player and a sony minidisc. I also wanted to be able to belt my keyboards through the system, without fear of smoking the drive units. At the time I lived in a bedroom 8x12 ft and decided that wall brackets were the only option. So that narrowed me down to bookshelf speakers. However I felt in the future, I could put these on stands and given a bigger room, they should stand by themselves. I must be honest when I auditioned the 751''s in a listening room, I was dissapointed at the lack of bass. However the speakers had a presence, detail and smooth warmth which knocked me out! I decided to push my worries of bass away, given I could enjoy more in the recording with these than others and took them home. After wiring up with bog 79 strand and anchoring them to the wall, I put on my mary black test cd of no frontiers and closed my eyes... Well... you couldnt wipe the smile of my face! These speakers simply sung so sweet in the room, with a bass so tight, present and clean yet deep and satisfying, it was simply wonderful! The next 5-6 hrs was spent going through my cd collection, finding new things all the time in recordings and experimenting with the position of the speakers.

Strengths:
Outstanding dynamics, controlled bass which defies physics! A clean top end that is smooth and matches the rest of the speaker perfectly. Fantastic presence and smooth sweet sound, no boom and can be bi-wired.

Weaknesses:
VERY heavy for such little boxes! Also wish I could have had them in birch as black looks so ugly these days! Still, wouldnt swap them for the world!!!

Summary:
I bought the freedomised Mission 751's about 6 months ago at an end-of-line discounted price. These speakers represent a true bargain, giving such fine sound quality for the price. They are fed by an Arcam Alpha 1 CD player and NAD 3240pe amplifier; older, budget source components that nevertheless give me a smooth, well-focused and satisfyingly sweet and detailed sound when matched with these Missions. Although bass has less presence than I'd like, mid-range frequencies are superbly reproduced and treble sounds much sweeter and more open than my previous speakers (Mission 761). Particularly good for jazz recordings, where saxophone and trumpet sound so clear and convincing. Vocals sound marvellous, having such presence and lifelike clarity. If you are in the market for quality bookshelf speakers and find a pair of these speakers still for sale (discontinued a while back), please audition them, as I think they offer so much for so little.

Strengths:
Imaging,presence, sweet, clear mid-range and treble, superb reproduction of vocals.

Weaknesses:
limited bass weight, new ones hard to find
