Bottom Line:
Really like these, even though they are small they are like try hard giants.
The vocals really come through clearly, bass for the most very capable bearing in mind that these are small enclosure speakers, treble sounded a little rattley at times but overall it can be a David matched up to a Goliath depending on the the equipement its hooked up too.
Overall very good buy for a small to medium room, dont be afraid to crank them up every now and then and let them take you where you want to go.

Worth it as a demo pair but I wouldn't pay retail for it. I guess it's great sounding if you're used to hearing speakers in the same price range but it is an average speaker overall. This model produces real British high end sound and it should as an entry level speaker. However, I noticed treble rolloff and boominess that detract me from enjoying the music. This could be caused by the exchanged placement of the drivers. But bass response is very good for speakers this size. Anyway, it works well in the office.

After buying a new and very expensive stereosystem for my livingroom, a fairly good and heavy amplifier (2 x 90 Watts at 8 ohms) and a bitstream CD-player, both from Philips, were left over. Why throw it away, or get some peanuts for it? I decided to set up a second system in my study; to do so, only a set of small bookshelfspeakers was needed. Reading some magazines and auditioning some speakers led me to choose the Mission 731Pro. Luckily, the local store had an offer I could not refuse; in US-dollars, I paid just 160 the pair, can you believe it ?! Not expecting too much, I bi-wired them with good speakercable and trew them in the bookcase, i.e., placed them on damping rubbers. The result was impressive. Ofcourse, dynamics, bass-extension and "realism" cannot be compared with the standard, set by the "big" system, but apart from that, all musical characteristics were there! Definition and stereo-image are o.k., details are brought out nicely and sharpness in the high frequencies is simply not there ("violins are not cutting the cabinets into pieces"). These sweeties can play quite loud also, without loosing any control; ofcourse, here they take advantage of the rather "oversized" amplifier I once used to drive a demanding speakersystem from Infinity . (That was not a very good idea; an amplifier can be "too small", it can never be "too big", but that's another story). In conclusion, I give the Mission five stars with ease. By the way: you shoud use them with the grilles attached, to prevent reflections from the sides of the cabinets. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Hi! I've just got a MISSION 731 PRO speaker set. I was looking for a nice speaker
set for my Harman/Kardon AVR 10 and SONY CDP-XE300.( I know my system isn't great as other people here. But what can I say, I am just a student.)
I paid MISSION 731 PRO for just $219.00 ( Canadian $ ). What a price !
I have heard that MISSION 731 series have performed really well. MISSION 731 PRO speakers are even better. They are equipped with four connection terminals
for BI-WIRING, and their tweeters have been changed from 28mm Composite units to 25mm silk dome units (Previously, silk dome units are used in more expensive MISSION speakers). I feel that the new 731 PRO speakers sound even better when I am bi-wiring them. Some people may say that the benefit of bi-wiring has less effect on small size speakers. But, Think about this. Where can I get a bi-wireing ready speaker set with such a low price? I am not talking about only the price, but also the performance. MISSION 731 PRO speakers beat many more expensive speakers in performance. I think that MISSION 731 PRO speakers are good for those students (like me) who cannot afford very expensive speakers, but want to have great sounding speakers.

Try them before you buy anything else !

Bottom Line:
I just got these speakers for a month. They are really incredible. Excellent sound stage and tonal balance especially vocal. Close your eyes and you'll never believe that what you're listening comes from such small boxes like these. The most important thing is the price!! I got them for 350 $ (in Bangkok) which you will need to pay twice or even triple to get the same quality as them. The only weak point is the low frequency. Since it roll off very fast below 70 Hz, you may need another good sub if you love deep bass.If you love vocal, jazz, string or even classic, these boys will not dissappoint you. But if you want to rock the earth, please try something else.
