Summary:
Very revealing speakers, will reveal a god from a bad amp, I drive these through a Harman Hardon A300 tube amp, and enjoy every vivid detail these speakers produce, unique when playing music with tabla or when producing certain FX sounds like on Bjork's Vespertine, also love how they make Sara K, Vas and Chris issak sound! just need to add a subwofer and they are great.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $5000.00 from audio excellence

Summary:
Bought these speakers 5 years ago. I had the previous Aerius I speakers. These are a slight improvement over those speakers. My room is not large but these fit the bill. they can play loud if they have to but most of the time I don't have to put the volume up much. Very detailed and good balance with no harshness. Have performed for five years with no problems, thus I would call them reliable.
I add a small subwoofer, B&W, to the speakers to round out the bottom end. I now can get a nice full sound with having to put the volume up loud. What marks these speakers is the lack of distortion and ease of listening from the eletrostatic panels. These speakers are transparent and will show the quality of the amplifier driving them. I currently use a Conrad Johnson MV 60 and a Conrad Johnson PV11. With the powered subwoofer, 60 watts is more than enough to drive these speakers.

Strengths:
Full sound without having to put up the volume.
Transparent and free from distortion or harseness.
Good volume available if you need it.
A baanced speaker that you will not get tired of.
One of the best small floor standing speakers available and I have had a lot of previous speakers, B&W 802, Vandersteen 2c, 2ce, 2CE special, Thiel, PSB etc.

Weaknesses:
A small sub woofer will give you all the bottom you need for a full sounstage and helps the overall image and soundstage.

Similar Products Used:
B&W 802, Vandersteen 2c, 2ce, 2CE special, Thiel, PSB and previous Matin Logan Aerius I

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

A new driver from Lowther is real news. A new five inch driver is even rarer news, so it was with great anticipation that I waited on this pair of speakers to arrive.

Aune Mini Headphone DAC User Review

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
