Review 1 of 2

Summary:
Like the other review, I got this for a really good price (around $350) and it is totally *killer*. Bass is authoratative and not muddy at all. It's just really really *pure*. The subwoofer is *huge* though, so it's not something you can just stick somewhere out of the way. Also, as a passive subwoofer, it'll need a power amp, which is a semi-hidden cost. (If you don't realize this at first, you'll suddenly have to shell out more money for an amp) I use the Marantz AV700, and I love it!

For "value" below, I'm rating it at the list price, not at the price I paid for. If you get it at the price I paid for it, then I give it five stars.

Strengths:
Tight, very deep bass. Beautifully crafted. Simple to integrate, bannana plugs.

Weaknesses:
*BIG* (I had to get rid of a chair to accomodate) and *heavy*. Also, it's passive which means you'll need to buy a separate power amp.

Summary:
This is a great passive sub. the bass is tight, tuneful and extends to below 25Hz with authority.
Overall 5 stars as it easily matches the output of my THX powered sub and goes lower. Got a great deal on it and ended up getting a Kenwood THX amp, the sub, and a mono 31 band equalizer for a total of $670.

Strengths:
tight bass, high output.

Weaknesses:
heavy, non-powered

Similar Products Used:
Altec THX powered sub

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
