Review 1 of 2

Summary:
I have been using S1's of one version or another for the past 13 years. Currently I have 3 as LCR in my home theater with SS500's as surrounds and 2 MX 200's. The sound is simply amazing. You should realy audition these as not only a music only system, but for home theater use as well. I have auditioned literally hundreds of potential replacement speakers in the past decade but keep going back to the S1's.

Related Equipment:

S1c's LCR
SS500 Dipole Surrounds
2 MX 200's
Bryston 4B-st (3)
B&K 4090 Processor
Zenith 900 Projector
Draper AT 1200 Screen
Dwin Transcanner
Sony 7700 DVD

Strengths:
Dynamics, Imaging, Tonality, ability to timbre match with other non M&K speakers, and power handling capability

Weaknesses:
Must be used with a subwoofer

Review 2 of 2

Summary:
These speakers are truly amazing in several aspects. The soundstade is open, the imaging is crisp, and they reproduce music like no other speaker I've ever heard in the sub-$15000 range. They DO however need a subwoofer.....they only play to 77hz...but alas, they are sealed. I am truly impressed by the overall quality of this speaker, it has turned my favor from NHT to M&K...

Strengths:
-excellent highs
-superb soundstage
-imaging

Weaknesses:
-price

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
