Summary:
IT IS ABOUT FIDELIO!

I had built a pair of Fidelios with 15 Ohm DX2s, never managed to construct OTL (that is why 15 Ohm), but even with my solid state amps they sound EXCELLENT!
There is even some bass if placed close to rear wall, but if one really needs bass the only way would be a subwoofer, if you have any ideas what could match I will be happy to hear them.
Detail and sounstage is excellent, almost anything sounds natural and effortless. I use them for rock, classical, movies and would say that while there could be comments depending on particular style of music, for me they are really universal solution.

Strengths:
impilse response; sensitivity; detail; soundsatage, imageing -- I would say all these are excellent.

Weaknesses:
They are rather big, would be rather expensive if purchased as complete boxes;
not too much bass considering the size

Strengths:
Very detailed smooth treble AND theEX3units have solid bass given a good speaker cable.

They show up the weaknesses in your recordings and kit

Summary:
I currently have a set of 1960s cabinets fitted with DX3s.
When I first listened to these speakers they sounded utterly different to other domestic systems I had heard or owned. Within a few weeks I was utterly hooked on their style of presentation.
The low bass problem is a problem to do with the mouth area of the horn on the cabinet. If you put your head into the mouth of the horn you will hear very clean and undistorted bass down to 30Hz and below.
With sets of these speakers to be found for next to nothing in junk shops and new drive units they can be an excellent introduction to the Lowther way of doing things.
5 stars for value but only 4 overall because of the bass problem ( solvable with different cabinets )
Along with the Audio Note Kit One, these things brought my upgrading madness to a halt

Strengths:
Incredible vitality and an indescribable otherness

Weaknesses:
No Bass !

Summary:
Year of production is wrong as the list doesn't go back to 1950!! My "pair" is actually two separate cabinets but you would never guess from the sound.

Driven by low power valves (I use Audio Innovations) with new(ish) drivers these cabinets sound glorious. I fully agree that the difficulty is with matching the rest of the system to ensure you don't hear the faults!

Recently had an "audiophile" friend round. He listerned carefully and made two diagnoses:

1) didn't know that AI produced 200w amps
2) couldn't hear the crossover in action between the three driver units

When I took the front plates off showed him the single drivers per cabinet and told him that 18w was doing the business he fell off his chair!!

Currently, the AI is out of action and Quad 303 is in place. Not quite the same detail but still sounding wonderful.

Bass is an issue but by careful placing in a larger room to take advantage of the accoustics is more than acceptable. A sub may seem OTT but probably worth a try - I will when budget allows. This is the only thing to bring the score down from *****

Strengths:
Clarity, detail, warmth of presentation, easy listerning over a wide range of volumes

Weaknesses:
Single drive units lead to some lack of bass below 40Hz

Summary:
I'we got a pair og Acousta 115 "New" with Lowther DX-3 unit. After more than200 hour "run-in-time", I hear it all...except whatever is below 40Hz.
P.S. If You try to listen to Lowthers for the first time, and it sounds awful,
it is NOT the speakers....It is Your system! They discover every fault in Your
system.
I give them rating "4" caused by lack of sub-bas.
