Review 1 of 6

Price Paid:  $80.00 from Radio Shack

Summary:
I just bought a new Yamaha receiver at Myer-Emco and wanted to hook it up quickly. I needed some bookshelf speakers for my rear channels and these are an outstanding value. I thought these would be temporary while I looked around for a permanent pair, but I may save some case and just use these. These are a great bargain, if you can still find them.

Strengths:
Very good sound for all applications. Even 5.1 SACDs and DVD-A sound good.

Weaknesses:
None so far.

Review 2 of 6

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Radio Shack

Summary:
This an update to my prior review of the Radio Shack-RCA Linaeum speakers. They are called dipoles but they are in fact bipoles. They are two monopole speakers connected back to back and both diaphrams move when viewed from the front of the front mounted tweeter in opposite directions from each other unlike a dipole speaker such as an electrostatic or ribbon or any single diaphram speaker that needs to be mounted in a cabinet so that its back wave won't cancel its front wave.a

Strengths:
The same as the prior review. “

Weaknesses:
If the speakers are mounted near a rear wall the rear speaker wave that reflects off the wall behind it will comb filter the front speaker's sound which adds a harsh ruffness to the overall sound. It's easier hear this effect with sources that have solo instrements and voices because multiple instruments such as massed voices and string intruments tend to comb filter each other and sound somewhat ruff in a live performance. <

Similar Products Used:
Same as my previous review

Review 3 of 6

Price Paid:  $50.00 from RadioShack

Summary:
A very good speaker to mate with a larger woofer and other mid-range/tweeters. ?

Strengths:
They may sound better than my Janzen 412HP and RTR electrostats. They seem to have no sound of they're own and don't seem to have distort or exhibit any dynamic compression on loud passages.

Weaknesses:
The phase of the tweeter needs to be reversed but this can be done in 60 seconds because after lifting off its grill and removing one screw from a cover plate the connecting wires that have push on connectors can easily be pulled off and reversed. This is a must for the best sound. Don't be fooled because the blue wire goes to the red dot because internally its connected mistakenly to the ground terminal.

Similar Products Used:
Electrostatic speakers and small 2-way speakers with larger bass-mid-range drivers.‡

Review 4 of 6

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Radio Shack

Summary:
I got the Lineaum Dipoles and 5 im woofers also at Radio Shack, I have been wanting theese babies since I saw them a few years ago but $340.00 was too high fer me. They just went down to $100 a pair during a blowout sale and man are they GREAT! Have tried em out on MANY types of music and wow, you have to hear it to believe it.

Strengths:
AMAZING performance all around, Bass and Treble both are clear with NO distortion. In my case price was a huge strength

Weaknesses:
None as of yet

Similar Products Used:
too many to mention but the first time I have used dipoles in my home

Review 5 of 6

Summary:
I purchased the dipose tweeter , designed by Linaeum, separately at Radio Shack. It has a 1st order x-over at 2500Hz. I soldered a jump wire across the cap and put in my own cap 2.2mf making the x-over slightly above 8K. I use it as a super tweeter. It is very smooth, clean and works excellently as a super tweeter. I sells for $40 but I got it on sale for $30. Radio Shack sells their 2-way(with this tweeter) for $300/pair. It is an excellent investment.
