I can honestly say that this center channel Klipsch 2.2V (V stands for "Video", I believe?) matches up to my KG4.5's very nicely. It is pretty much a full-range speaker, which you need for a center channel speaker. The thing that always astonishes me with Klipsch horn-loaded speakers is the sheer force of impact they give you when watching a movie or listening to your favorite songs at good volume yet still allow you to hear the tiny subtleties at low volume as well. This is exactly why all good quality movie theaters since the early 1940's have ONLY used horn-loaded speakers, like Klipsch, JBL, or Altec Lansing. Every IMAX theater today uses horn-loaded spsakers as standard operating procedure. They require far less power than non-horn loaded speakers yet produce the same amount of volume. Why do you think normal theaters do not use B&W, Sonus Faber, or even Wilson WATT puppies for their speakers? Sound quality of those other speakers is excellent, but their volume of output cannot touch a horn-loaded speaker. They would need 500-1,000 watts per channel but still would not come close to the volume level needed to equal the horn-loaded speakers output with the same amount of power. For example, I knew a theater that used all horn-loaded speakers with only 11 watt per channel tube amplifiers for power and those speakers would blow you out of the theater!! Yes, 11 watts per channel. Now take theater technology (horn-loaded speakers) and shrink it down in size to fit into your home. This is what the KG2.2V and its brethren give you... movie theater-like sound in your home, hence the name "home theater". You could try to argue with me, but technology & physics do not lie. Take whatever non-horn loaded speakers which you currently own with whatever amplifier you wish to use and compare them side-by-side to a horn-loaded speaker by using one of each on left & right channels. You won't be able to hear the non-horn loaded speaker because of its lower efficiency! It's fact, not opinion. This does not mean that you will like horn-loaded speakers better than your current set-up, but horns bring out all of the hidden deficiencies of your upstream equipment (ie. you cannot use cheap equipment or it will sound bad). The only other center speaker that I've heard with even more impact than the KG2.2V is the Klipsch KV4, with its (2) 8" woofers & horn and it's awesome power handling of 200 watts RMS & 800 watts PEAK!! I have the KV4 paired up with the (6) Klipsch Forte II's and I am continually amazed every time I watch a movie with a good soundtrack & special effects. You have to be there to feel/hear what I'm trying to convey in mere words.

Anyways, the KG2.2V is basically the KV4's younger brother. Klipsch actually sold KG2.2 speakers (without the "V" designation) that stand upright instead of lying flat, like LCR (speakers that can be used for either Left, Center, or Right) type speakers... probably because they sound & look so good together.

If you have the opportunity to listen to a set of horn-loaded speakers powered with good equipment, do it... you won't regret it. Then you will be addicted to them like many, many others already have been for many years. All I can say is just sit back and enjoy the music, because isn't that what it's all about anyways?!

Clean clear and crisp sound

I have used this one as a center speaker for a pair of fortes in prologic surround. It is now the center for a Dolby digital with 4 fortes. This is an excellent center channel: It stands up to the fortes well without distracting from the surround that they produce. Ir has a special horn-loaded tweeter which enables the Kg 2.2 v center channel speaker to provide sharply focused sound. Strength:

Efficient, dynamic clean sound reproduction!

Weakness:

Discontinued

I concure with everything Robert states about this center. I have owned it for over five years now and it has never let me down. I was a bit concerned of the efficiency differences between my ChorusII,s and this center, but, after a bit of level adjustment, I was extremely happy with the results. This center channel really can keep up! It is an AMAZING little speaker!!!! I thought about "upgrading" once...but couldn't find a good reason to.........KLIPSCH #1
