Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $2100.00 from TCA

Summary:
I wanted to update my bookshelves speakers to columns so I listened to the ProAc 120, the Linn Ninka, the PE Leon Enzo, the Thiels CS.5 and others not worth being mentioned.

The Thiels were also very nice but they I finally choose the Evolution3 for their superior bass.

After warm up they perform beautifully on any type of music (Jazz, Eletronica, Funk, Classic) at any level.

A must-listen in this price range.

Used with an old but still very healthy AudioAnalyse PA90 amp, an Atoll CD80 player, Cardas Quadlink 5 interconnect and Silver Line Eagle cables

Strengths:
Detailed, sharp and natural sound. Strong bass. Excellent response.

Weaknesses:
Require strong Amp to be strongly driven and need time to warm up. None beside that.

Review 2 of 2

Summary:
When I came to listen to this speaker, I did really want to like them and I have a very positive 'a priori' through all the reviews.
But I was very disappointed...
In fact, There is no real drawbacks about this speaker: the bass is good and really amazing from such a small column, the mids and highs are good (the highs are on the edge of been bright but still OK)
The problem I have is that the music was not involving at all...
I have been listen to these speakers for quite a while but the toe tapping factor was simply not there.
What is this coming from? It is not easy to figure out. For sure it is not the room neither the gears used with the Evolution3 since after auditionning these speakers, I auditioned the Enzo S2 (same room and same gears) and the involvement and the enjoyment of the music came right away.
The feeling I have is that these speakers are working hard to fullfill all the 'audiphile criterias' and so lost some kind of 'magic'...
These speakers are the exact opposite of the Cantilene which might not always be very neutral but so much involving and full of life.

Here is ranking of the speakers tested :
1- PELeon Enzo s2 (in every aspects, clearly head and shoulders above the others)
2- Confluence Cantilene (a speaker more for music lover than audiophile. do need a punchy amp. to express its qualities)
2- Triangle Lyrr (unatural extreme highs but great medium and full of life)
3- JMR Evolution3
4- JMLab 915 (in a direct A/B comparaison with the Lyrr, they did sound so boring...)

Strengths:
very sharp, accurate (timber, image), really good looking, small, nice bass.

Weaknesses:
I have never been able to 'dive' into the music

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
