Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $2300.00 from used

Summary:
I try my best to write in english.

I bought a pair of these JBL Ti6K speakers in Sweden over a year ago for aprox. $ 2300 (price for pair). They look expensive and they sound expensive. New price in sweden is aprox. $ 5000 (pair) so I made a good deal I think. They are very rare so when I found them I had to buy them. I've been looking for them for many years. They are from 2003 but they look awesome! They were made until 2004 on the JBL factory in Denmark. (Don't know if they make any JBL speakers today in Denmark). My pair looks like new. And they look absolutely amazing. They are very wide and deep and the wood finish is superb. They look so....wow!! Like a very expensive furniture.
The boxes for these are veeery big. But take care of them if you move.
They are from 2003 but that doesn't matter at all. The drivers are as new, and the rubber surround on every driver are as new. So these speakers can play for many many years still.

And remember, this is my review. Not everybody likes JBL (cheap or expensive). Listen to different kinds of speakers (and amps, cd-player) and find "your sound".

Strengths:
Amazing sound quality, superb midrange (the midrange driver in ti6k and ti10k is also used in much expensiver Revel speakers). High quality high range and bass too of course. Can play everything; rock, pop, classic, jazz. Everything sounds very good and like it should sound from the studio recording. But I prefer to play rock and pop. JBL is a rock/pop speaker, I would say especially the TiK series. They sound so much better than cheaper JBL speakers (or other brands).

You can play all different kinds of music on these speakers. You don't have to think about them sounding bad if you don't like rock/pop.
The midrange is the best thing about these speakers. Voices sound very alive.

Weaknesses:
They lack a little bass. They only have 2 pieces of 6 1/2 inch low range drivers on each speaker. But I have to say I love bass. But they are not bad playing low tones, just not the best. I would consider buying ti10k for better bass, but they costs a lot more than ti6k. However the bass sound on ti6 is very good, but not the deepest and highest. If you want more bass, buy ti10k (but they are veeery expensive). The best ting is maybe just buy a used high quality sub (at least 12"). Or build one yourself.
The speakers are very heavy and they are big so it's a struggle placing them at the right spot for best performance. But when you are finished and hear the sound you forget all the trouble you had :). And you don't have to move them again, right. Ok if you are moving to another place. Remember to take care of the sp.-boxes for more easy moving. Very important! And it's good to be 2 persons to place them right or if you are on the move.

These speakers need expensive amp and cd-player to get the best out of them. And they need at least 100 watts per speaker, and good sounding watts of course. Don't buy any Denon or NAD or anything like that for these speakers!
