Review 1 of 3

Summary:
Like all JBL products I have owned and/or listened to, this is great audio. I was using a $99 Altec Lansing sub, it is solid, but this is better. I have matched the sub with a pair of JBL media 200's (also used it with a pair of 100's).

If you search the internet, you can find some great prices on this sub. I paid $15 at uBid.com, the shipping was more then the speaker.

Strengths:
Great JBL BASS. Just good clean sound.

Weaknesses:
If I find one, I'll let you know.

Summary:
THIS SUB IS ALL THAT. DONT LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERIWSE.
PEOPLE MAY GIVE PC SPEAKERS BAD RATINGS, BUT THEY JUST DONT REALIZE THAT THEY ARE COMPACT AND THAT THEY ARE MADE TO FIT ON A DESKTOP, WHICH MEANS THEY AINT GONNA BUMP LIKE 4 15'S. BUT FOR A PC SPEAKER, THEYRE ALL THAT. THE CAN BE PURCHASED AT UBID.COM FOR LITTLE GREEN. I PAID JUST OVER 20 BILLS FOR MINE. IF YOU LISTEN TO HIP-HOP OR R/B THEYRE NICE, YOU HEAR AND FEEL BASS YOU AINT GONNA GET FROM ANY OTHER PC SPEAKERS W/O ANY ROLLOFF. POUND 4 POUND, ITS A BAD ASS SPEAKER FOR THE $$$$$. A PERFECT FIVE STARS. PEACE!

Strengths:
SOLID BASS, CLEAN, EFFORTLESS SOUND - TYPICAL OF JBL

Weaknesses:
NONE

Similar Products Used:
ALTEC LANSING (NO COMPARISON)

Review 3 of 3

Summary:
I bought this from Ubid for $32 shipped. WARNING: Ubid reams you for shipping!!! luckily this product had a standard 6.99 shipping charge but my media 200 speakers cost $19 to buy and $17 to ship!!! Bid accordingly.. so now on to the sub itself. It is running with a pair of JBL media 200 speakers and a second subwoofer (the subwoofer from the system2000). This sub reminds my of the Bose subwoofer. If you plug the port with a foam football, all the bass is gone. I first placed the subwoofer under my desk which is enclosed on 5 of 6 sides. This sub rockS!!! however, i moved the sub about a foot in front of my desk and all presence of this sub was lost. i have determined that positioning is EXTREMELY crucial for this sub. more than other subs (my other sub is an 18" cerwin vega...positioning is of no concern with that beast...) But just using this sub alone with a pair of junkie computer speakers, this sub produces low bass with ample volume (it's made for a computer, not a home theater). My recomendation is that this sub is an all out go...don't waste 500 bucks on that crappy Bose system. This sub matches the bose sub with ease...and those little altec lansing and campridge soundworks subs....this puts them to shame...of course positioning is key.

Now, when i run this with the jBL media 200 speakers and the system2000 sub, the entire system sounds really good...i mean really good...the media 200's are awsome!!! however there was a bit of low mid bass that was missing in the system, but the System2000 sub filled that in perfectly... My recomendation is to get this sub as well as the System2000 sub. i paid a total of 88 dollars for all three speakers and i can say without a doubt that this was the best system my 88 dollars could have bought.

Big plus to JBL for adding the line out feature on all the subs. The media sub looks good as well..

So my final word is this...If you can place this sub in a corner, or under an enclosed object (like under a desk that has walls all around it) then go for this, but if you plan on putting this more than 2 feet away from a wall, don't waste your time on this sub because postioning is everything with this sub..i feel this has more to do with box design. but overall i would give this a 5 out 5 without thinking a second thought..i was more than impressed with not only this sub, but with the entire system. (i have a $4000 car stereo so i don't get impressed too often). My one complaint about the media 200 speakers was that the tweeters have the same harsh charactistic as all Jbl tweeters (especially their titanium tweets) at high volumes, but a little adjustment in winamp EQ solved the problem. So go buy these wherever you can get your hands on these...Ubid is a great place, they said these were refurbished, but i seee no signes of anybody ever opening this package, no scratches, all the wires were wrapped in original shrink wrapping and tied properly, and all speakers still had that fresh new product smell so don't be too discouraged when they say its refurbished. all three of my speakers were labeled refurbished and none of them were.

Strengths:
solid, line out, looks good too

Weaknesses:
not any to complaine about
