Bottom Line: Summary:
The K2 9800SE's have been connected to my system for about two months now. Overall the sound is well balanced, the mid and high frequencies are brightly lit but extremely smooth and detailed. Imaging is exceptional, percussion instruments sound very lifelike and dynamic. The bass if full and detailed with each note delineated in a way I have never experienced before, and when required gut wrenching in its power. The speakers are very easy to drive and can play cleanly at levels ranging from background to live rock concert without strain. Even after long high sound level listening sessions my amplifier (MC 352) runs cool showing no signs of strain. These speakers could easily fill a large room using a good 60 watt tube amp.
Strengths:
Dynamics, detail from the lowest frequencies through the mid range extending through the highest harmonics. Easy to drive and beautiful to look at.
Weaknesses:
Extremely detailed presentation, requires the best source components. Price is out of the range of most audiophiles. In my setup required addition of acoustic treatments to my room to get the best balance.
