Summary:
I have been using D590 since 2001. I use my home theater once a week. Now, i noticed that, the down firing woofer of one speaker is damaged on its own. I have not misused the speaker. It's difficult to trust the brand.

Summary:
I bought this speakerpair for music (stereo) and cinema purposes (including music DVD's)
I bought them new for about 900 USD in 2003. I remember that they where double priced
when launched. In the beginning, as is often the case, they where perhaps a little dull
sounding. After 2 - 3 months playing they really opened up. The base became very powerfull and fairly detailed and the midrange very detailed along with the tweeter. In the beginning they was hooked up to a
Yamaha RX-V1400RDS surround receiver (110 watts RMS per channel). Within their price-range, the result was very musical. Meaning that they sounded open, clear, warm and detailed. I have used them with great results for several types of music like jazz, progressive rock, classical accoustic music..Allways with impressing results. However, the results was going to improve quite some more. One shall never underestimate the importance of a good amplifier match for the speakers. I thought that an Yamaha RX-V1400
(which was capable of delivering 7 times 110 watts rms) should have had more than enough power to run the 590's without any strain. However after testing the speakers using an old Accuphase P 300 poweramp
(200 watts into 4 ohm RMS) I was pretty amazed. The most noticeable sound improvement could be described as follows: The base became much more detailed and controlled. In addition I experienced a quite noticeable overall improvement
of the sound image. The latter type of amplifier is well known for its huge power supply.
Therefore, my conclusion and hint to other potential buyers will be:
To get the full potential out of the speakers, you should connect theese speakers
to a strong amp (not particularly under 130 watts RMS) and with a decent power supply.
Other than that, a great speaker within its price range.
