Bottom Line: These aren't bad speakers for the $50 I paid for them at a pawn shop. I had to soon had to have the woofers and mid range speakers reconed and refoamed. I think that if I bought new polydome tweeters it may really help these speakers. It is difficult to accurately judge these speakers on their sound reproduction qualities since the tweets are so old (this speaker came out in 1993). I will say that the bass is not lacking with these speakers and the imaging is O.K. Not like my Allison Fours, that is for sure. This speaker's best attribute is it's reproduction of the mid range which has a certain smoothness to it. Electric guitars on Steely Dan's Greatest Hits sound very smooth when they should and aggressive and tube-driven when appropriate. I am still mulling over buying new polycell replacement tweeters and am hoping that the high end frequency response of these speakers improves. Or, I could always plop a different tweeter all together in their place.
