Bottom Line: I purchased these from ebay and paid $468 shipped I couldn't believe I got these for so little. I have had them since 2004 and have them paired up with IL 10 and IL25C center. First these are finicky speakers but when you take the time to set them up right WOW. when I first got them I was using a Denon AVR 1608 reciever and it's true they didn't sound spectacular. soon after I bought a Rotel Pre-amp Processor and a used AV705X 5 channel power amp. the difference in sound was amazing the dynamics, soundstage and tonal quality rival speakers costing $3000.take the time to set them up right and you will be very pleased. You still find them used on Ebay, buy them and do what I suggest and you will have Champagne sound for beer cost!!!

Bottom Line: My father purchased there speakers from Circut city back wheb they where selling them to replace his 20 year old bostons.
These speakers where GREAT sounding driven from a yamaha amp of the same age as the bostons.
So they sat until about 2 months ago when i added them to my PC works/ laptop driven sound system and they seem to sound not as good but i am sure that its just the set-up.
Great speakers!!

Bottom Line: The big plus is that they are all in one, the sats, the sub and the amp. The down side is the bass control which if not properly managed is overpowering as compared to the sats even with a great external amp powering the sats which to me are a bit dull. They look classy, but are heavy.

Bottom Line: I'm not surprised whenever I read the crappy reviews on the IL50's. These speakers need to be set up with the RABOS Infinity sells. Mine sounded not so good before I bought one.
I'm glad I heard them without reading the reviews first. I'd not have bought them.
I can understand those that have had problems with the sub-woofer amps giving them low marks, but when these speakers are working right, WOW, they give crisp bass with nice clear mid range and bright highs to boot. I've powered these with the Harman Kardon AVR-520 from day one, which has ample power for these and the IL40 back speakers, and a JBL S-Center 3 way for the center for HT mode.
Just for the hell of it, I hooked up the IL50's to my old (garage amp) Sony ST-AVR910, 100 watts into two channel and it didn't sound near as good. I'd kick these IL50's to the curb too if I only had the Sony to power them with.
I bought the RABOS system about a year after buying these speakers. I give Infinity a bad mark for not selling them as part of the package. There is no way, without a lot of screwing around that you can match the final setup of the RABOS. I know, I did lots of screwing around with these, then decided I needed the RABOS to make them sound better.
Yes, I was not so happy with these before buying the RABOS. The $80 was well spent. These speakers kick a@@! Bass response is absolutely crisp, with no booming bass, and nice clean, bright mids and highs. I listen to a wide range of music, from hard rock and roll to jazz, western, and classical music. I turn the front bass controls up or down depending on my mood and the music I'm listening to.
To those who think they have a bad set of speakers, try adjusting the bass at the back, those three little pots and three little switches on the back make a world of difference. I can make mine sound bad by playing with these, and you can too. Try different settings. Each speaker comes with 7 controls just for the bass. Thats a lot of leeway to get it right, or worse, getting it wrong.
Circuit City carried these back about 98 or 99, and I remember listening to these alongside other speakers in similar price ranges such as Wharfdales, JBL ect, and I was impressed with them then, and I still am.
I get a lot of compliments on this setup and for good reason, it sounds great, and at the center of it all is the IL50's.
Had I not bought the RABOS, I too would have given these speakers a lousy review.

Bottom Line: I notice people either love or hate these speakers. I think they are a good value for $500. The RABOS system is a must & I wonder if some of the people who aren't getting good sound don't have the RABOS system. As far as quality LEXUS, BMW, MERCEDES and JAGUAR have service centers because they break down. This doesn't mean they are overall poor quality products. I think they are overall one of the best sounding speakers for what I paid.
