Review 1 of 7

Price Paid:  $500.00 from lingo

Summary:
these speakers are the best and I loved them so much. I had the jbl e80 before them, they were so good but comparing with the alpha 50, there is a really big difference. the sound is unbelievably crisp, clear and natural. although I am using a poor receiver (the yamaha rx-v550 ) the sound is flawless. I dont even think changing to a better receiver will make a diffrence . and I love the look of these speakers, I have never seen such well designed speakers like this. I have the cherry color. it fit with my room perfectly.

the bottom line is, if you see the alpha 50 in front of you , dont lose it.
they deserve every cent.

Strengths:
superb highs, mids and lows. room filling sound. the best looking speakers.

Weaknesses:
none of course.

Review 2 of 7

Price Paid:  $375.00 from American TV

Summary:
I LOVE my Alpha 50 speakers. They are beautiful speakers well crafted, sleek and sexy. More importantly the performance is outstanding. In my 7.2 arrangement I have (4) Alpha 50s, (1) 37c center channel, (2) 25es surround speakers and (2) 1200s subwoofers. The Alpha 50 speakers are built with exceptional drivers and tweeter. These speakers are well balanced, neutral, accurate and to some degree magical. They present a large soundstage, excellent ping pong dynamics and bring out the perfect amount of detail and clarity without coming across harsh. The more money I have invested into other components and upgraded speaker wire, powercords and interconnects, the more amazed I am at how excellent these speakers really are. For example, I have added a $2,000.00 BPT power conditioner to my arrangement and that made a dramatic improvement in my overall sound. My speakers began to sing like $5,000.00 speakers, not $1,000.00 speakers! Some people feel the Alpha 50s are weak on the bass end. This is absolutely not true. The bass output is completely dependant upon your amplifier, power cords and speaker wire. I have added the PS Audio PLUS powercord to my Denon 3805 receiver and the bass output from my Alpha 50s is now staggering. As I spend thousands of dollars more upgrading my musical components, I do believe I will feel any desire to upgrade my Alpha speakers. Every speaker in this family is amazing. My 1200s subwoofers are extremely tight and powerful. My center channel is full bodied and detailed. If you can find Alpha speakers on sale at a fraction of the retail price, you will not be sorry. Happy Hunting :)

Strengths:
Wide soundstage, dynamic ping pong affect, well balanced tonality, crisp clean accurate highs.

Weaknesses:
NONE

Review 3 of 7

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
have 4 Alpha50's with the Alpha37C center and the Alpha1200 sub and a entra back center and exrta entra sub all on my HT set up, powered by a Onkyo TX-SR600 and like all Infinity owners know there is a breaking period and then it's crank it up and test them, and i must say, very impressive! mine are all bi-wired with "good wire" and the mid and upper ends really do sound much better, the most impressive part is the center the 37c which is just plain the best "as of this writing" center i've EVER heard anywhere in my life!!! go check it out and hear for yourself...

Strengths:
great sound for any thing you throw trough them

Weaknesses:
none so far

Review 4 of 7

Price Paid:  $360.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
The Infinity Alpha 50's were a steal from Circuit City on closeout at $179.00 each. I couldn't believe it. They were also the last set in town. I went to CC the day of purchase prepared to buy the Sony K90's, but found these on clearance. I took them sound unheard. When I got them home, I was not disappointed. When I got them first hooked up, (not bi-wired) I remember them sounding kind of metallic for just a couple minutes, then they seemed to really warm up, and they continue to do so even now. As the other reviews suggest, these speakers really do need to break in for awhile. After a couple days, I decided to bi-wire them, and that has made an even bigger difference. Now the highs and mids are much more present and defined, and more easily placed, and the lows are much more refined. I could do without having my sub, but do use it crossed over at 40 hz. I really let the Alphas do what they can do. And they do it all very well. You can really push these speakers, and they are completely up to the task. Powered by a Harman Kardon AVR130, the sound is very impressive. Well defined and powerful, yet capable of much subtlety. I can't wait to know how they will be sounding a month or so from now. As I stated earlier, they continue to amaze me all the time, as I try to find new ways to make them work. They never let me down. I would recommend them easily for their ability to produce clean, natural and neutral sound. No frills. They also are very well constructed, and quite heavy. I took one apart the first day to look at them on the inside, and what I saw was very impressive material quality, and construction methods. Infinity knows how to build some speakers.

Strengths:
Clean, natural, neutral sound. Power handling. Looks. Build quality. Highs and mids that are super impressive. More than decent low end.

Weaknesses:
None come to mind.

Price Paid:  $650.00 from ultimate electronics

Summary:
These are the best 8" woofer tower speakers I have ever heard, I have mine running off a hk3475 and the bass sounds beautiful along with the highs of course, If you don't position the speakers right you will get less bass or if you expect the bass to sound like 15" cerwin vegas you will have to get some backup from a powered sub.

Strengths:
nice sounding speakers.

Weaknesses:
None.

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....
