Review 1 of 2

Summary:
This was a budget speaker when it was made (early 90s), about $1500 the pair. Nonetheless, it uses the same ribbon tweeter that Genesis uses today in all their megabuck systems.

If you can find a pair, grab them. You'll never hear more accurate highs without taking out another mortgage.

Strengths:
Accuracy; clear, clean high end

Weaknesses:
Could use some warmth

Review 2 of 2

Summary:
These speakers are amazing. Having heard speakers on the same equipment such as Lucas Design, Dyne Audio, and B&W these are the stand alone winner of rich realistic quality. The tweeter used in this cabinet is amazing. With moderately forgiving placement they image acoustical pieces with live attendence qualities. Ever pluck of a quitar sting is sharp, the tone life lick, and the separation perfect. I could not recommend a better choice of speaker.

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
