Summary:
PS. These are the only speakers that sound better *without* their spikes. They are also unlike any other horned speaker I've heard, having a sweetness to them at times(when the music has it). The Buckinghams are no longer available, since the driver has been discontinued, but those of you with SETs can get them cheap now.

Review 2 of 2

Summary:
OK. I've been searching for the right speakers for my Wavelegnth Cardinals. I've tried alot, with some success, Gallos, ESPs and now the Galantes.Since the amps are SETs, that put out 7 Watts, I needed an easy load, that was effecient and had reasonable bass(not highest on my priority list). The Buckinghams seemed to fit the bill. They are 100db efficient, and a flat 8 ohm load. These speakers use the old Altec 604-8K driver, which is a duplex with a 15" mid/bass driver and a hornloaded treble driver. Galante the builds their own crossover(changing the crossover point), and custom makes the cabinet. In my room, they are flat down to 40 Hz.Ok The first thing you notice, is that there is ALOT of detail. The second thing is that there is an ease to the music . Microdynamics are amazing, and there is an incredable speed to the music, but not in an in-your-face-way. Pace and rythem are better that anything I've heard before. These speakers are also coherent, which adds to the detail and speed. They also image like feinds and give a HUGE soundstage(not quite up to the ESPs tho)especially wide. The strongest point is their IMMEDIACY-its like nothing else I've ever experienced. Downsides? these are extremely revealing speakers. They are VERY picky about what you mate them with. They will tell you EXACTLY what they think of whats upstream, and how good your recordings are. Forget SS gear.In fact, except for OTLs you can forget P-P amps too. They really prefer SETs and then, they are still picky about the tubes used. I ended up going back to my WE 300Bs for their smooth suave sound. These are NOT forgiving speakers-bad recordings sound bad.Period. They LOVE human voice, and seem to adore vinyl. Are they for everyone? No. They are quirky, and unforgiving. Despite that, I'm hooked, and cannot go back to other speakers.

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

A new driver from Lowther is real news. A new five inch driver is even rarer news, so it was with great anticipation that I waited on this pair of speakers to arrive.

Aune Mini Headphone DAC User Review

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
