Summary:
These speakers are the best investment i ever made in the world of hi-fi. They come from a crowd called Duntech, a legendary name here in Australia for audiophile quality high-end loudspeakers. I first became interested in duntech speakers as a teenager when I heard their flagship model, the sovereign, at a home and hi-fi show in melbourne; i was awe struck. Those particular speakers are near enough to seven feet high and 125 kg in weight, and their sound is every bit as awe inspiring as their size. I was in the process of saving up for a pair of Duntech princess', a smaller version of the sovereign (sort of) when Duntech released their gemstone range. The gemstone range was designed to produce the most accurate high end sound at a more affordable price. Duntech have been able to achieve this quiet well by applying many of their design philosophies which have made them legendary not only in Australia, but around the world. The flagship of the gemstone range is the emerald, it is not cheap, but oooohaaaa has it got the sound to please. The emerald won the sound and image magazine loudspeaker of the year category easily with the judges saying, and i quote, "The Duntech emeralds give a totally disciplined performance with superb imaging and tonal balance, absolutely and highly recommended." I run the Emeralds with an me 550 Mark 2 power amplifier and rotel rsp985 pre/amp. To say I am pleased with the result would be an understatement, and for the money, I will NEVER find a better combination.

Strengths:
Great sound, SUPERB imaging.

Weaknesses:
none really, must have good amplification, be a pity not to drive these speakers to their full potential.
