What we're talking about here is the overall value of the product. The quality of sound you get from this system is hands down the best for this price range. I know of no other speakers that can compare with def tech for about a $1000. I have the procinema 100 set. I've had it for about 8 months now and I love it. The 10" sub is just astounding. It's hard to believe such hard hitting bass comes from that thing. The clarity is also unbelievable.
I highly recommend this system for people who want an AFFORDABLE surround/music system. That is, unless you whip out your spectrum anylizers which I'm sure you all have right? Richard, you have entirely too much time on your hands. Who the hell cares what a spectrum anylizer reads? Rule of thumb: What sounds best to you is right.

Summary:
Here's a variation on the basic Pro Cinema 100 set-up that works well and is still within a modest budget [$1,900 compared to $1,500].
I had started with the Pro Cinema 100 and felt the center suffered from dialogue sibilance [s and ch's sounding raspy]. I was able to try the C2 and then the CLR 2002.

I ended up with the $650 CLR 2000 which wieghs a ton but will sit on top of an entertainment center or Rear Projection TV. It has great imaging and handles sibilance much cleaner and has a nice HT bass response.

It is still considered a small speaker in the receiver set-up becasue it does not have a powered sub built-in.

The drivers are 6.5" that match the Pro Monitor 200's as fronts and are timbre-matched suprisingly well.

So the final set-up is the CLR 2000 center, two Pro Monitor 200's for fronts, two Pro Monitor 100's for rears and a Pro Sub 100 [125W 10"] powered sub.

I use a Pioneer Elite DV-05 DVD player with Monster coaxial interconnect to a Pioneer Elite VSX-24 90W x 5 ch. DD/DTS receiver.

I also use gold banana plugs and 12 gague Monster speaker wire.

Also a Monster AV800 surge protector [the HT 1000 has a line conditioner if you want to spend $100].

And it all comes together for a modest home theater set-up considering home theaters in a box sound terrible and you could easily spend $5,000-$10,000 on speakers alone.

This speaker set-up sounds rich and warm [compared to bright and punchy Paradigms which are also good speakers] with a nice deep bass response for sound effects and has a nice broad, smooth soundstage.

I am trying to decide between the Pro Cinema 100 set and the energy take 5 set. I have been unable to find an on-line dealer with the Pro Cinema 100's so if anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks. 5 stars because I hear they are fantastic.

Try contacting costsheets at costsheets.com. I e-mailed them about a month ago and they gave a price of $995.00 including shipping, which is a terrific price for this set, but there could be a backlog. As far as choosing between the ProCinema's and the TaKe 5's, and price being no object, the ProCinema's win hands down. One more thing, Definitive just released the new Pro 80 series, which has a 4.5" woofer instead of a 5.25" woofer and the new ProSub 80 which has a 250 watt amp with an 8" woofer. The Pro 100's are rated down to 50hz and the Pro 80's are rated down to 60hz so you don't lose much dynamic range for a smaller speaker. I just bought the Pro 80's yesterday and hope to post a review as soon as possible. I am hooking it up to the new Denon AVR3300, which was released this week. A local dealer matched the lowest price I found on the net, so don't be afraid to use the net as a bargaining tool when dealing with your local retailers. Good luck to all and happy listening.
