Summary:
I was in the speaker market and auditioned several brands in several price categories. I found the DCM, TFM v8.0 the best sounding speaker. This is both a direct radiating as well as a bipolar design with 2 tweeters mounted on the rear top side. It has a 8" woofer, a 5" midrange and a tweeter mounted conventionally in the front. This type of arrangement produces a airy, spacious sound with excellent imaging and sound staging on various types of music. for home theatre, I mated the timframes with a surround scape ctr. and CX21 rears (recommended by Home theatre magazine -Dec 1996). Needless to say the system sounds excellent with dolby digital and also prologic. Other brands I auditioned - B&W-DM Series, AR-HO series, Paradigm Monitor series, Atlantic Tech. 250/350 and Mirage Bipolars.
