from Soundwell Summary: I own CA-1/W2's
These are the sweetest sounding loudspeakers that I have ever owned. The highs and mids are sweet, while the bass is tight,
but not boomy.
I am a bit curious what it would have sounded like if Dalquist had ever offered the 'anticipated' active module for W2.
Since I bought them, I have had them bi-amped. They have seen different amps, but when I installed the Synegistic Research cables they just let go and
just glow. I haven't noticed any special soundstage issues, in the sweet spot, they are great.
I have been running them with between 150-250 wpc on the bottom end and 100-200 wpc.
At the moment they are being driven with a Phase Linear A300 on top and a Nakamichi PA-7 on the bottom.
The sound fine at low volume, but go on 'afterburner' at higher volumes!
Buy 'em if you find 'em Strengths: Good sound and hard to beat at the price (Even if you bought at full retail) Weaknesses: Heavy, and the two unit ought to lock together (this is eathquake country)
Also it would be nice to be able to bypass the crossovers. Similar Products Used: B & W, KEF, ESS and Ohm (conventional and Walsh drivers-which I still love!)

from Audio Advisor Summary: These guys I purchased at closeout. It turned out to be a terrific buy! I had liked the smoothness of the original DQ-12s as a kid, and these babies have a similar overall smoothness.
Great high end and not too bright Great midrange (wide and smooth) Solid Bass (without booming)
These guys really open up when bi-wired/bi-amped. Even cheap amps (Adcom, NAD) sound great with them! Get decent speaker cables though.
Comparable to several speakers in the $2,000-$2,500 price range. A quality speaker system for $1,000 or less used. Too bad they are out of business. Sometimes even superior products fail in the market.
If you Find em', buy em'! Strengths: smooth high end wide midrange decent bass (properly amplified) Weaknesses: wiring is a pain Similar Products Used: B&W, Thiel, Mordaunt-Short, Mission

Review 3 of 5 Summary: I bought these things as a " fill in speaker " from my brother, who at that time worked at HI-FI Buy's in Nashville . These things blew me away after i hooked the Tara Lab cables to them.I had been auditioning speakers and i had no intention of keeping them, but since i set these things up w/ proper toe-in there's no need to listen any farther. Amazing ......... Strengths: The midrange of this speaker is incredible especially after i filled the ca-i's with leadshot. The base is tight and managed pluss the high's are dinamically sweet. It's too bad Dalquist stop making them.My Wife even shuts the door and listens to these babies sing. Weaknesses: They need to be toed in which makes the soundstage schrink a bit Similar Products Used: Denon,Teac X2000R reel to reel player,Thorens TD 160 super w/ Grace tonearm,Krell.

Review 4 of 5 Summary: I bought a pair of the Dahlquist ca2 and ca-w1 used for $500 and that was the best $500 I ever spent. If these speakers are set up with care and given enoughpower there is a near prefection that is acheived, a nice flat sound, tight low end, great staging. So if you can find a used pair, consider a pair.

Review 5 of 5 Summary: Considering how good these speakers are, I was rather disappointed no one had reviewed them yet. They are a two piece system which are ported. Strenghts are the absolute accuracy in the mid-range and bass which is palatable even at very low volume. The treble is as accurate as I have ever heard. Very flat across the entire band. Weaknesses are the narowness of the sweet spot. The speakers need to be toed in just right and listener placement is important though not critical. Also, Dahlquist, what remains of this once mighty company no longer makes this speaker.
