Strength:

okay performance (but certainly not fantastic), decent value for the buck for nondemanding listeners

Weakness:

extremely underpowered, prone to distortion and unsettling popping when the going gets tough

This is a follow-up of an overly enthusiastic review I wrote almost two years ago. I still think this sub is a good value for the money but it DOES NOT meet my expectations or the demands I place on it. I have recently taken this thing back to Costco and purchased a JBL E250P to replace it. The difference has been night and day! I no longer have distortion or popping on THX test screens, and the list goes on....Hence, if you expect consistently clean, powerful and undistorted performance from a sub because you know you're going to work it hard (like I do), then pass the D-Box over. There are many better subs out there!

not an audio freak so cannot ascertain the differences

for $249(Canadian dollars) compared to different specs of other subs, this is a steal... sounds great, i am not an audio freak so this is truly a cost conscious bargain, my friend works at a high end stereo place so he said I could not go wrong with this unit, said similair woofers will go for 500-700 CAD A great deal, vive la Quebec..(sorry to hear you lost the F1 race.....)

Price/performance ratio

Weakness:

none so far...

Like almost everyone else who has purchased this product, I too bought my D-Box 303 at Costco. Great price and good reviews, for the most part, drew me to it. I hooked it up to work with my Paradigm 7se's, Titan surrounds and CC 370 as a rear surround. In stereo mode I tinkered with the settings on the D-Box while playing various "test" tunes ranging from the 1812 Overture to 2112 Overture and others many and varied in between. I am quite impressed with what I am hearing. After finally synching the crossover points with my existing speakers, the 303 works and sounds really crisp, clear and powerful at medium volumes. Higher volumes are a bit boomy in my listening room but more tinkering and tweaking ought to help. For the price (as most others are saying) I am impressed with the way the D-Box has meshed with my system and am very happy with the "woofs". Padme's ship sounds great on ATOC too.

Strength:

12" of sub for under $300 Deep bass you can feel Pleasing asthetics Woofer itself seems to be well made

Weakness:

Only 100watts of sustained power output which hurts it when you hit very bass heavy scenes. Bass sounds kind of muddy when compared to higher quality subs Powerfull enough to get you kicked out if you rent an apartment or basement suite

This is a review of the newer model David 303. I was doing some shopping at costco and figured I could always add more bass to my htpc experience so I picked it up. After plugging it into my reciever and loading up the blade2 dvd to test bass response, I was pleasantly surprised that the bass was hard hitting and fairly deep. Quite a value for the price performance ratio this sub offers to you. However I have also have a Mission MS10 10" sub and I noticed that the David sub sounds a little "muddy" when compared to my mission where the bass is tight and accurate. Other than that little setback I can't imagine a better value in the subwoofer market. However it's a pity this manufacturer isn't selling in stores other than costco.

High excursion... great power delivery.

Weakness:

none

I auditioned many subs, from energy, velodyne, B&W, M&K....etc. I had a budget of around $2500.I stumbled over a add for this sub in a American Home Theatre magazine. Did a bit of research to find a importer here in australia.... and after listening to it..... I was amazed. It's a real bargain. Hooked up to my revoultion Tannoys..... it simply KICKS, Pearl Harbour dvd: THX start & the bombing sequence from chapter 21.... really show this subs power and substance.

Strength:

deep bass, good lows. auto shut off, easy set up. incredible price, .......

Weakness:

none worth listing

If u really want to get deep low, room shaking bass out of this sub, i suggest positioning it at the back of the room facing backwards 5-7 inches directly at the back wall. The sub will then use the wall to enhance the reverberations and increase vibrations resulting in deeper room shaking bass. give it a shot, see how it sounds. also, if u are looking for tight crisp bass, try sealing the ports and see if u like the difference in sound. use a balloon or a rubber ball or something for experimentation

Strength:

Loud, solid, deep bass. Well constructed. No better value for the dollar. Includes all the features needed to fine tune the sub.

Weakness:

None that I can think of.

I have had this sub for about 2 months and I think it is one of the best values in the home theater market. It easily fills my 14'x19'x8' room with thunderous, room shaking bass. I use it mainly for movies and it provides bass that you can not only hear, but feel as well. It has totally transformed my home theater and has added depth to movies that my Sony SAVA-1 never could. It weighs in at about 55lbs, which indicates to me that there is solid construction and internal bracing. This subwoofer is a no brainer for anyone looking to improve their setup.

Strength:

Phase control Crossover Removable grill is a nice touch...(something you won''t get with most velodynes at 3 times the price), Clean, powerful bass down to 28Hz Solid construction Canadian built

Weakness:

Bottoms out a bit in volume when it goes really low, other than this...nothing. You won''t find anything that compares to this unless you are willing to pay a minimum $300 more. (I tried)

Really great product. There is definitely better out there, but not at this price. Fantastic sub made by a company that few people have ever heard of. Price of 340 is in Canadian dollars.
