Canton Digital 2.1 Floorstanding Speakers Reviews

Summary:
I am using Cantons Digital 2.1 now for roughly a year and I am extremely pleased with its superb price-performance ratio. Especially in the bass range it will be extremely hard to find a similar precise sounding speaker in such a small cabinet. Precision is due to the DSP room correction which you may perform by yourself once you have aquired the appropriate measurement microphone (which you should). In the mid/high section the speaker may tend to sound a little bit analytic - however sound staging is phenomenal (for the price range). Cantons Digital 2.1 need definitely a "warmer" sounding amp. It is as well very important to put the box on a well tried out combination of spikes/dampers and place these on a firm ground (I have mine on custom cut marmor) in order to enjoy their full capabilities. I have mine bi-wired and will place them soon in bi-amping mode for which it is, according to the development engineer at Canton, actually designed. To sum it up - there is no speaker I know of for the price that I have paid (which was about $ 3'500.-- !!)that will display bass foundation, sound staging and precision in the mid/high range in such a superb fashion. It will of course fall short on criteria as naturalness of voices if compared to a Apogee or to the extreme sound staging of Odeon Horn Speakers, but these will cost 5 times as much. For the price that I have paid there will be hardly anything like it (even for twice that). "Only" 4 Stars overall in appreciation that there ARE better speakers on this planet - if you only could afford those.
