Bottom Line:
Product description: stand-mounted 2-way loudspeakerwith passive bass radiator, 55cm high, using Audax
units, 1988-1990, cost $600.

These were speakers I used from 1989 until I moved to
Magnepans in 1993. Not following the gospel I always
preach myself, I bought these un-auditioned, but on the
recommendations of a jazz-listening salesman.
Yesterday I connected these old Dutch speakers of mine
once more to the system, just to get an idea of how a
certain hifi past sounded.

Treble is pure, courtesy of the HD-25 tweeter, but mostly

speaker initially impressive with percussive music. After

BNS has made a lot much better speakers since then,
the massive Nobis being a case in point, but the QUintet
was a failure...

So far, just off the bat, I'm very impressed with construction. The power cables are very beefy. ... Read More »

Did the PS Audio Quintet do anything for me...?

It sure did. I tried a power conditioner from Transparent a couple years ago and I did not like the effect. One of Transparent's reps thought it may be my Krell drew too much current. I've been wanting to try it again and leaning toward PS Audio. Two things got me to leap, a special until 4/30 w ... Read More »

Slight problem with Klipsch Quintet II

We all can get into trouble on New Year's Eve. We were at my brother's house and I had been having liberal brewskies. Not at all sober, I was marveling at the sound of his new Klipsch Quintet II system. He had replaced four big 1970s-era speakers with this set-up (supported by a good 12-inch powered ... Read More »
