This sub has no hum or pop when using the auto on/off switch.The bass output is tight and musical.I use it in listening mostly to jazz and classical.It has plenty of depth and power in its output.

Now - none. It was internally wired for 240 volts and had a hum and 1/2 power.

As purhased from ubid it had a hum. The box said 240 volt and export. After discussion with Jeff at BIC, he faxed me instructions for making the internal wiring change myself (I'm an electrical engineer). It was very easy to change the transformer wiring, requiring only a small screw driver. Now it is absolutely silent, and kicks even more.

Solid construction. Easy to access controls. Low distortion.

Wish it had an output. Auto off doesn't turn off when I turn my receiver off.

I bought this at ubid for $159. They charged me $42 S/H. According to ups.com, I should have been charged about $10 for shipping. I guess handling is expensive. I have this connected to a JVC884 dolby digital receiver. I don't use this as a passthrough subwoofer. Instead I have a single rca type connection. The subwoofer sounds very good at 120Hz crossover. Doesn't sound nearly as good at 80Hz. The auto off doesn't work with my system, the subwoofer stays on all the time. This may be due to a leak coming from my receiver. I have the volume set half way. I don't hear a pop when I turn the receiver on or off.

All in all I'm very satisfied with the subwoofer. It doesn't sound as good as some higher end subwoofers I've heard, but, then again it doesn't cost as much and isn't nearly as big.

I bought this shop4.com for $266 including tax and shipping. It's a prettygood value for a above average subwoofer for under $300. I am using it with
my inwall BIC speakers, BIC center channel, and Kenwood DTS receiver. The result is pretty damn nice.

I have to give it a four star.

I've been quite satisfied with this subwoofer. It offers a 10" woofer and 150 watts. It's not too big and is priced right ($160). It has auto on/off when you turn on or shut off your receiver. Volume and level controls are up front and easy to use. They go great with my DV52s!

Low Price

Muddy bass, can't hit the deep lows

Very low priced sub that provides average performance. While it can't compare to a Velodyne or Sunfire, the price difference is well worth a look. For $150-$200 (depending on the auction) you get a sub that will help increase the amount of bass in your listening room. Don't expect to be dazzled, but expect to be mildly satisfied. You'll get more bass, but it wil be pretty muddy and you probably won't get anything below 80hz. I recommend that you save the $150-$200 plus s/h and put it towards a better sub.

Plenty of power for an average living room. The box is a nice wood-grained glossy black that even the wife appreciates. Placed under an end-table, the unit is virtually invisible. Have hit 110 dB and extension down to ~22 Hz using a frequency sweep disc.

Not the tightest bass response, but a good performer for the price. Emits a small pop when the auto-on/off feature is used and not much bass is present. Problem is completely solved by leaving the amp ON all the time.

Very decent sub for the price. Would recommend to anyone who wants take the plunge into 5.1 sound w/o breaking the bank.

My sub is the DV-1010,which may,or may not,be the predecessor to the V-1000? However,it is a wonderful little sub for a medium-size room: Tight bass,musical,nice roll-off,and not too big and ugly.Price,decent build-quality.

No line-level outputs to facilitate daisy-chaining two or more subs together.

From the descriptions of the V-1000 subs in this review,the DV-1010 would seem to be different,possibly better,but I do not see a category for DV-1010.DV-1010 is roughly the same size/shape/finish as the 1000,is part of the Venturi-series, but has no "venturi" I can see.This sub is a completely different,non-ported,"acoustic-suspension" design that sure does not suffer from the muddy,flabby,bass that others report the ported V-1000 to have.Why so many mid-fi manufacturers resort to porting a sub just to extend the bass reach a little is a wonder.Unless a sub is carefully designed as far as port-placement,size,shape,etc..,a sealed design yields much tighter,"quicker" bass,which means quality is stressed over quantity. But,with so much modern emphasis on Neo-Primitivism,no wonder that companies are tempted to pander to the calls for crude but massive amounts of bass,like the kind you might get by banging a hollow log with a bone,or something like that...So,I feel that B.I.C. was wrong to "improve" on this design for Fad's sake or whatever.This sub is a steal,if you can find one.
