Review 1 of 8

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
Here is a speaker that performs (I owned the MKII version), well, very well. I didn't completely fall in love with them compared to the live in voices for example a Zingali can produce, but they are solid quality indeed with a beautifullly pictured soundstage, OK-voices, solid bass they can fill a room well with Music. No doubt about their quality. If you fall in love with them. These ar rather sturdy looking boxes I find, not so refined in that aspect, but who cares. I didn't stick with them long enough I'm afraid, looking forward to try another pair of others or Caldera's instead for example, and I can imagine the Virgo's can be.. well I don't know until I will have tried myself indeed. No, I don't like their looks too much, but better this than the other way around..
A definite should try.

Strengths:
Bass, soundstage, picture

Weaknesses:
Looks could be a little more refined, no bi-wiring.

Similar Products Used:
Zingali, Diapason (Adamantes), New Audio Frontiers, Tannoy, Ellipson, Bose, JK Acoustics, Jean Marie Reynaud

Review 2 of 8

Price Paid:  $10000.00 from TLAudio

Summary:
Now Avanti III is at its best! Some updates has been made in the end of 2000, during the 2001 and 2002, and the result is very, very good. Avanti has rather easy impedance load now and its frequency balance is bettered. Bass and midrange are now very natural and well balanced. A slight miss in the accuracy of the bass is still there, but one can notice this only if you may listen to the very best speakers in this area(like Dunlavy SC VI) and those are much more expensive. Dynamics is very good, although I have heard slightly better speakers in this area. The soundstaging, focusing and airiness are absolutely the highlights of the Avanti!! One can say same concerning the resolution and transparency too! In these areas Avanti is among the very best speakers available. I changed my Virgo III's to the new Avantis and it was worth of it! I have now more and deeper bass, more natural vocals and more dynamics too. I think Avanti III is now the best speaker in its price class!!!

Strengths:
Airiness, soundstaging, imaging, focusing, resolution and overall balance.

Weaknesses:
VERY SLIGHTLY bass accuracy and dynamics.

Similar Products Used:
Acapella LaCampanella, Fischer&Fischer 450.

Review 3 of 8

Price Paid:  $10000.00 from Oslo Hi fi Center

Summary:
I recently replaced my JBL 250 Ti's with a pair of Audio Physic Avanti III i's. Waving goodbye to the JBL's was a bit sad, but my new system with the Avanti's, and a Mark Levinson system with 380 preamp, 390s Cd-player and 432 amplifier with Madrigal and Nordost cables, certainly has renewed my interest in listening to music at home. The soundstage is enormous and transients are fast and clean. These loudspeakers present piano and percussion in a much more realistic manner that the Lansings. Before purchasing the speakers, I listened to BW 802s and Revel Studios and although these clearly are good speakers, the Avantis were the speakers for me. Highly recommended.

Strengths:
Enormous soundstage, fast transients and very realistic portrayal of voice and instruments.

Weaknesses:
May need a subwoofer in big rooms.

Similar Products Used:
JBL 250 Ti, IMF TLS 80 II,Rogers LS 3/5A, various models from Acoustic REsearch.

Review 4 of 8

Price Paid:  $2500.00 from eBay

Summary:
Maybe the first and only REAL speaker you can afford and that is small enough to have in an ordinary living-room. Its an extraordinary good speaker, you play with almost full power without distortions etc.

Strengths:
The sound, finish, size.

Weaknesses:
Require a BIG amplifier, I would say at least 150-200W pr. channel.

Similar Products Used:
Sonus Faber Grand Piano, Chario Accademy.

Review 5 of 8

Price Paid:  $0.00 from --

Summary:
I have listened to them today in combination with marantz reference tubemonos, nagra pre-amp,vpi table, dcs digital. The systems price was far beyond the speakers pricerange,so they could show what they were worth for. First of all,the soundstage was really first class, big, tansparant and deep. The sound was thanks to the amps warm and there was really athmosphere. The bass was a little slow but this was becouse of the roomconditions.(wooden floor) For this money I really love the presentation. If you are looking in this pricerange, listening is allmost a must.

Strengths:
lively,soundstage,nutral

Weaknesses:
not really notised yet.

several

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....
