These Speakers are Truly amazing, I had my polk audio rm7500 for a year and half. I've watch movies like the matix, Saving Private Ryan and gladiator lots of times with the polks. But now that I've seen them with the AT270 let me tell what an experience!! with the matrix I acheived Great bass, like the scene where trinty rises in mid air at the beginning of the movie, before kicking the police officer The camera does a 360 rotation and the bass kicks in. With the Polks you get bass trust me but its not tight and it not natural, With the AT270 the bass on that scene was amazing, in you gut type bass that doesnt bloat or rumble that you here with alot of subs. The system is just great in every way and has met my expectations. I would recommend this system to anyone looking for a thx movie experience.

Summary:
The Atlantic's sounded much brighter than any other system at a comparable price. I tested M&Ks and Paradigms and they were both much flatter sounding and voices didn't sound as realistic. Bass couldn't touch the 270's. The sub does a great job handling both CDs and video. The shoot-em-up scene in the lobby from the Matrix really makes my wife pretty excited about the system - NOT. I thinks it's pretty damn cool, though. This is one of the most impressive 5.1 systems I've ever heard.

The only thing that bugged me about these is that there were no good stands made out of wood available for these speakers so I built my own. After some labor and a nasty table-saw accident, I have a really nice $13,000 pair of speaker stands. I just got a letter from AT advertising that they have stands that make the front speakers look like towers. It would have been nice if I knew about these before.

Good system. Highly recommend checking them out. Some may love - some may hate. See which one you like.

Summary:
I recently bought the THX Select Version of Atlantic Technology System 270. In one word...WOW. This is one incredible speaker package. Coupled with a Marantz SR7000 Receiver it makes a spectacular system. For home theater, the sound is clear precise and above all--dynamic. For music, I am simply rediscovering all of my CD's like it is the first time I heard them. I urge anyone in the market for speakers to give the Atlantic Tech's an audition. You will not be dissapointed.

Summary:
This review is of the new Atlantic Technology System 270 THX(select).

The system is similar to the old 270, but differs in many aspects.
The main differences are as follows:

1) The 273mC (center channel) has been completely redesigned, by moving the 2 mid/bass drivers closer together, and repositioning the tweeter, which is now between and slightly above the other drivers. You can see the new design on their website @ www.atlantictechnology.com.

2) The other speakers in the system appear to look the same as they did, but to achive the THX Select certification, they had to make changes in the crossover networks of all the speakers, which make subtle, but very noticeable and positive changes in the sound.

I can't say enough great things about the 272PBM subwoofer. It replaces the $4500 Linn subwoofer I had in my reference system, and actualy sounds tighter and more refined, in the 40 to 80hz region. This is one of the best subwoofers I have ever heard, at any price.

This system replaces Linn AV5140s (front L&R) AV5120 (center) Linn Tukans, and Paradigm ADPs150 (rear).

At almost 1/4 the price of the Linn system, for home theater listening, the system 270 THX is just as enjoyable. For music listening, its not quite as warm and involving, but has improved, with the 200 plus hrs of use. Previous reviewers mentioned the lack of highs, but I find this not to be the case. I agree there is a lack of real high freqency extension, but I find this almost a plus. So many speaker manufacturers today, try to get that extra high frequency extension, and only succeed in delivering bright, fatiguing high frequencies.

In conclusion, if you take the time to properly set up the bass management system in your pre/pro, or receiver, you will be amazed at the quality and quantity of the sound the System 270THX can deliver. Highly Recomended.

Summary:
After reading all of the super-hype reviews of the 270 speakers, I felt compelled to run to my nearest dealer for a test listen. Well, after listening for about 3 hours, I concluded that they were pretty decent except for the fact that no matter where I looked, I couldn't seem to find the highs. I looked here...I looked there....I looked everywhere! Perhaps, I thought, maybe the room was too absorptive?? Notta! When I brought them home to my rather reflective living room, it became abundantly clear that the highs were missing in action. Now don't think that I'm just used to overly bright highs, cause' Im not. I have a pair of ProAc 2.5s in my dedicated listening room. And while it may not seem fair to compare the 270s to much more expensive speakers, I've heard any number of comparably priced ones that give you a tweeter along with your speaker purchase..(slight exaggeration). Really, if Atlantic did just a bit more work, they would have a truly great speaker that did justice to music, in addition to taming those overly bright soundtracks. I, for one, will not sacrifice one for the other..
