Price Paid:  $750.00

Summary:
I bought these speakers to please my wife and myself as I have no space for floor standing speakers in my smallish family room. Since my house was new construction, I built a 1.5 cu. ft. enclosure behind the wall made of 1 1/2" MDF. I used a pair of 400ax's with similar enclosures for the rear channels. My only complaints are that the grilles do not fit very well and the spring clip posts are flimsy. I replaced these with high quality 5 way binding posts (easy mod). Overall I am pleased with the sound and feel that the bass for these units is impressive. They are able to shake the floor easily. The speakers have excellent imaging for an in-wall unit and I feel they outperform top of the line B&W and SpeakerCraft units in every way. 4 stars only because of the grills and binding posts

Strengths:
Build quality, sound

Weaknesses:
spring clip posts need to be replaced with good quality binding posts

Magnepan Magneplanar MG 1.6 User Review

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
