Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Long Island Audio Vi

Summary:
They need an ample amount of power!!!!

Strengths:
Full bodied, well versed all-around performers

Weaknesses:
they need an unusual amount of power, muddled mid-range, not super accurate

Similar Products Used:
B&W 602's, 602.5's, and 604's. I loved the 604's

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $255.00 from Ebay

Summary:
Revision of my last review: After hooking these up to an old Parasound HCA800II amp, they really shine. The Denon 2802 just didn't have enough oomph to do the job for 2 channel stereo. Highs are still magnificent and everything seems to hold together MUCH better than the Diamond 8.4s which seem rather sloppy in comparison. Even with the volume turned way up, they are detailed and coherent.

Strengths:
Great highs, decent bass, fun to listen to.

Weaknesses:
Not much to speak of except for somewhat limited bottom end. Plastic tweeter pod parts but it realy works.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $255.00 from Ebay

Summary:
Got these on ebay for a good price. They sound better than my Wharfedale Diamond 8.4s but for the bass. Highs are magnificent, seemless transition to mids and bass but when compared back to back with 8.4s there is a difference. They seem to be a good match for the Diamond 70 Anniversarys I have. Wood veneer is nice.

Strengths:
Beautiful highs, detailed mids, real wood veneer

Weaknesses:
Bottom end is a little lacking. Tweeter housing somewhat cheap looking.

Wharfedale Diamond 8.4, Bose 301

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $450.00 from wild west

Summary:
Purchased these along with the pi center about five months ago and am very happy with the purchase. The build quality and rosewood finish are excellent and are bi wire capable. Sound is very open and detailed due to the top mounted tweeter pot and is capable at times of incredible clarity and detail. Female vocals sound incredible while some mail voices sometimes lack a little punch. The sound much improved after adding a klipsch reference 10 subwoofer which filled in the bright spots on the speaker. With a good sub they are great and really shine without they tend to be a a little bright and almost too airy for my ears. They are not particularily power hungry and seem very efficient. Overall a great design and great build quality at a fraction of the cost of many other speakers.

Strengths:
Build quality, finish at these prices, top monted tweeter, clarity and openess

Weaknesses:
lacks a little in the bass department and can seem harsh on some tymes of music

Similar Products Used:
klipsch sf-2, psb image 4t, polk rt 600i

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
