from Crutchfield Summary: I purchased the CSi20 because Polk recommended it (or the CSi30) to complement my R50 front surrounds and R20 rear surrounds.
I'm not too happy with this center channel speaker, and in fact, I'm about to upgrade to a CSi30 and use the CSi20 as a rear center (6.1 setup).
The 87 db response rate is different from all other speakers I use, which operate at 90 db. You can easily adjust for this in the calibration, but this has varying effects at different volume levels.
The single mid/woofer limits the ability of this speaker. Additionally, the upper -3 db limit is only 18kHz.
Keep in mind that your center channel speaker is the most worked speaker. Almost all dialogue comes out of the center channel.
I only wish I had not tried to save $50. Yes, the CSi30 is only $50 more expensive. Strengths: - low cost ($150)
- small form factor
- excellent sound for setup Weaknesses: - single mid/woofer
- 87 dB efficiency
- 18 kHz upper -3 dB limit Similar Products Used: My speaker/theatre setup:
- Onkyo TX-SR600 receiver
- Polk CSi20 center channel
- Polk R50 front surrounds
- Polk R20 rear surrounds
- Polk PSW202 subwoofer
