Summary:
I recently received three of these MC1's with a Quake sub for the front end of a home theater system. They look good on the supplied stands and I really like the sturdy design (kid and cat friendly). They replaced a gathered from parts system. I didn't really expect speakers to make that big a difference. Wow! Even out of the box with my old receiver, these sounded clear, and crisp. They don't take up much space either. Great value, I'm really looking forward to hearing them after break-in. Easy to balance with the Quake

Summary:
Fisrst of all, I am the head of Research and Development for a large computer company, in other words, I extensively do my homework. I spend my (work)life on the Internet and in the college libraries studying. Have you ever heard of Jim Fosgate? If not does Rockford/Fosgate sound more familiar? Jim Fosgate is one of my dad's patience here in Utah. Jim has a summer home in Utah. I have been to Jim Fosgate's Home-entertainment room, DLR etc... How many of you can say that? Well anyways, it was the coolest thing I had ever experienced. I vowed I was going to get a speaker system like his, not knowing the magnitude of this man. Of course he made his himself, he has been called the inventor of surround sound(Dolby Pro Logic ect...) Well after all of this I would like to state me happiness on the decision to buy, factory direct, from Mike Dzurko, ACI.
The MC1:
This is a wonderful speaker, amazingly beautifuland *very* well built, and after burning them in, they really were amazing. I had a decent speaker system before, but this has amazing clarity and sharpness. It did add life to all my old songs. I was hearing things that I had never heard before. I had these speakers for my Left, Right and Center. I fully recommend these speakers, knowing how incredible that are. I have had these matched up with Two Mc2's and a Quake subwoofer, also from Mike Dzurko at www.audioc.com. These speakers add so much to my already HDTV, which is about twice the resolution and quality of the best HDTV's, I have the DVD, and an additional a line doubler to really sharpen it up. I have a Harman/Kardon Receiver. I know Jim would be impressed at the fidelity, because of the price. I only spent 1K from for this speaker system for my computer.

Review 3 of 3

Summary:
After building the ACI Spirits and LVs as kits, I expected any product offered by ACI to be top notch. When I needed a center channel speaker I bought the MC1 since Audio Concepts was promoting it as a great center channel. But I was soon to be disappointed with the lack of quality. Out of curiosity, I opened my MC1 to peek at the guts..crossovers, drivers, etc. What I found inside was pure junk!!! cheap! crap! No soldered wires. On top of that, I discovered that a electronics mail order company called 'Parts Express' sells the exact speaker made by Dayton Loudspeakers for a mere $109.00. So much for the MC1 being on sale for $189.00. The MC1 is not quality stuff but cheap offshore made junk, certainly not what I expected from ACI. Lastly the sound is just very average.

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
