$0.00 Summary: This is a vintage speaker set built originally in the 1970's. The company is still around and the are refubishing older models with newer drives and cabinet set up's. They do still build a series of speaker called the Walsh line up.
The first thing you notice when checking out these speakers is the weight, They are heavy! My guess is 25lbs each. Then when you hook this things up you notice a soundstage beyond belief ! The separation and presence of these little jems. I have listened to many fine speakers and i would personally prefer these to many more modern speakers. I have personally oned a pair of 2 way technics floorstanding speakrs with 10" woofer "my first set up at 14 years old". Then went to a pair of Paradigm 9semkII the model with silk dome tweeter and 2 8" midbass drivers. I currently own an Adcom gfa-545 amplifier, Adcom gtp-350 passive/analog preamplifier and a Toshiba sd-2109 universal player for my source.
I used these speakers on many different applications playing every cd i owned comparing them to the floorstanding paradigm 9semkII set up that i have had for 10 years now. I found in ever area except one the Ohms out perform the paradigms. I love the sound of the paper cone midrange it reproduces every instrument so precisely leaving little more to be desired. I have to say the pair i currently own is fully upgraded and has an aftermarket tweeter mate by HI VI, bought from a high end mail order company. The original tweeter was replaced prior to my owning of the speakers but i can say i hear the same pair before the tweeter was installed and the metal dome high tweeter made all the difference as ohm's upgraded tweeter is also a paper cone and has a very flat sound. The paradigms do have more of a floor shaking quality but they also have 2 times the surface area for low end and they do not have that much more umph then the ohms! All the upgraded drivers a liquid cooled and well designed to handle modern digital reproduction music. At $595.00 refurbished you can not go wrong these are amazing speakers. I have listened to many fine componets and these would be more comparable to a paradigm reference monitor or a B&W.
In conclusion if you can get you hands on a pair of these speakers for any purpose as main 2 chanel audio or home theater you will be getting a great sound that will last a long time. It is very rare that you find a company that still works with compontes older than 5 years but these were built in the 1970's and they still are today, Right here in America! Some times on e-bay you may run across ohm acoustics line up and i highly recomment reading into them there are some that not only have withstood the test of time but left a major mark in the present with audio reproduction!
