Price Paid:  $500.00 from eBay

Summary:
First off I can't believe there are no reviews on these speakers! They (like the floorstanding 400's) image very well. They have very little coloration if any, and play the source just as the musician/director intended. They also have quite a punch as the mid/bass driver really delivers without fatiguing at all. As mentioned on other Infinity speakers with C.M.M.D. technology, they do have a longer than usual break in period due to the "metal" drivers. The ceramic "skin" layered on the aluminum drivers make them very sensitive with the slightest bit of energy delivered (.1dbl). With the ceramic adhered to the aluminum driver, the aluminum provides for a very stiff yet durable combination. Infinity uses the same driver material in their current entire line of speakers except for their entry level which consist of M.M.D. leaving the ceramic off (which still makes for an outstanding driver). The difference is, as you get into their more expensive line of speakers (Beta's,Intermezzo's and their Flagship MTS Prelude's) and this now discontinued line of Kappa speakers (presently being reviewed) made exclusively in Denmark, they use larger magnets, different cabinet materials, and more sophisticated internal cross over's hence acheiving more transparency or little to no coloration at all. The Kappa 200's (Infinity claims), have a unique design with a sloped front baffle mounting the tweeter behind the woofer for perfect timing (as high frequencies travel faster than low frequencies) as the sound mix is perfect by the time it hits the listener's ears. I personally don't know if this is so true, as I think it's just another great marketing tool for Infinity to use.If this where the case, why didn't Infinity use this technology across their entire line? One thing I do know, is the bottom line, the Kappa's sound phenominal wether they are used in a 2 channel invironment, or serving as part of a hi end home theatre! Once you inspect these speakers up close, you will see their beautiful wood veneers with a sleek black leather back and 5 way gold plated bi-wireable (or Bi-ampable) binding post! I am currently using the 200's as rear speakers for my home theatre, and the Kappa 400 towers for my main L/R, and the Kappa Center channel. I also am running an Infinity SW-12 for my LFE with the cross over set @ 100kz.

Strengths:
Incredible Driver technology for the price. Great imaging, durability and looks! Hand Crafted in Denmark (doesn't look like they came off an assembly line)

Weaknesses:
None for the price! They are worth their retail $1200.00 a pair with out a blink!

Similar Products Used:

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
