Review 2 of 20

Price Paid:  $289.00 from AAFES

Summary:
Ok, I started out with JBLs and was disapointed. They sounded like crap. After I 10 or 15 minutes of listening, they tired you out. Bad speakers will tax your hearing. I went to the 201s which are good for home theater but are lacking for music. I liked them for about a week and realized I wasn't satisfied with the fullness of the sound. I went to a Best Buy and checked out the 301s. The selection Best Buy had was limited so the 301s were the best for the money. In the sound room they sounded great. At home they sounded good. I am really happy with them. I have 130 watt per channel Pioneer 7-1 with a Polk 10" sub and it sounds good in my home. My friend ordered Polk RTi6s (now discountinued) for about $30 more a pair. They were awesome. He was shopping new receivers and hooked them up to my Pioneer. The difference in sound was amazing. My Bose 301s sounded cheap compared to the Polks. The Polks were on close out at $249 a pair when I ordered mine. If I heard the Polks first, I would not have bought any Bose products.

Strengths:
They will fill a good size room with sound. They have smooth sound at low to medium volumes. They don't take up much room. They make a good garage speaker or 2nd/3rd surround pair. Good for home theater - movies.

Weaknesses:
They don't have a full range of sound. They sound smooth but not rich or crisp. At times the can sound tinny. Must have a good sub. For the money you can get much better speakers, Axiom, Polk and Infinity are all better choices.
If you're going to spend $300 for a pair of speakers you're not happy with, then wait and spend $350-$400 on something you'll love.

Review 4 of 20

Price Paid:  $300.00 from from a friend

Summary:
I dont like these speakers they sound terrable.
These speakers did not grab me at all, they sound very boxy and and undetailed.
I was very tearfull when i had these mutants, saying what have i done ,my money has been eaten away bye a stupid dealer that doesnt know much about speakers.
Any way I own a pair of linn keilidh speakers that sounds way better than these slime balls. The keilidhs are much detailed and transparent with a good liquid midrange. I rgrert bying these bose speakers coz i thought these new 301's would sound better then the older version, but i was wrong. older version is way better and has better body constuction.

Strengths:
NOTHING,

But they look cute

Weaknesses:
Every thing

Similar Products Used:
Old kef Q1O bookshelv- these even sound better than those nasty 301's.
