Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $8000.00 from B&O Vienna Austria

Summary:
Very natural and clear sound. I have them wall-mounted over my computer desk. Added the sub-woofer from my computer system to overcome lack of sub-bass. Perfect!

Strengths:
Compact size. Natural sound.

Weaknesses:
Lack of sub-bass, but easy to compensate for with a sub-woofer

Review 2 of 4

Summary:
These speakers were first bought almost ten years ago. After enjoying them for many years it was disconnected from the main system and relocated to the storage room. Recently however, I chanced upon these jewels and activated them once again. Expecting to be surrounded by sound I was instead hit by rattles and uneveness in the midrange, but a trip to the B&O service centre fixed it by replacing the four main cones. Now it serves as a fabulous second system. I'm sure there are better bookshelf speakers out there in the market, but you know the old adage, "be satisfied with what you have". I'm very satisfied for now!

Strengths:
Extremely full and forthright sound. Imaging is fantastic, but may not feel as tightly defined as other speakers. The advantage is that there is no one "sweet spot" - great imaging can be attained easily without arranging the speakers a million times around the listening chair. Stylish and understated.

Weaknesses:
No deep bass, obviously. This becomes apparent when heavy pop music or symphonic soundtracks are played. But for most intents and purposes it goes down low enough, and the wide soundstage more than makes up for it. One may consider the special connector that hooks up behind as a "weakness", since you need genuine B&O plugs, but I don't think so.

Similar Products Used:
These speakers are driven by QUAD 99 pre-amp, amp and CD-player. My main system is a pair of GENESIS V's driven by QUAD 66 pre-amp, CD-player and 606 amplifier. I also have a Velodyne HGS-10 sub which I may hook up with the CX-100 system in the future (and see how much the bass is transformed!).

Review 3 of 4

Summary:
I've had these speakers for over 10 years and use them happily every day. They do what they were designed to do very well; these are not audiophile speakers, just very nice mass-market products. They can play loud in a modestly sized room - ideal for casual listening in the kitchen, bedroom, office, or in a small apartement or condo. Bass doesn't go very deep, but the sound is quite nice nonetheless for such a compact speaker. I've never listened to these speakers critically to gauge their soundstage - I just place them in any old place where they can squeeze in and enjoy the music in rooms that never had music before. Even though these speakers were expensive when I bought them, they're worth the price because they will never go out of style and I'll probably use them for at least another 10 or 20 years.

Strengths:
Very compact size, substaintially constructed, big bold sound, plays well - loud or soft, they are beautiful and stylish little speakers.

Weaknesses:
Fairly expensive, other speakers in the same price range may offer a bigger sound in a bigger cabinet, and their small size means no deep bass.

Similar Products Used:
These speakers have always been part my 'small' stereo system and have been driven by B&O, Luxman, and Harman Kardon electronics. My 'large' stereo system includes components from Linn, Plinius, Dunlavy, Meridian.

Summary:
Although very small these speakers produce a very full and dynamic sound. They have excellent power handling and a high output.
They can be mounted anywhere and always look stylish.
Highly recomended if you can afford them.

Strengths:
Excellent build quality and an extremely full sound. Best looking speakers I have ever seen!

Weaknesses:
Not magnetically shielded at all.
