Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $2400.00

Summary:
Phil Jones has never failed in his attempt to create anything exceptional. He did it again this time with the 2001 speaker. A massive total weight of (21kg+37kg)per speaker with a 30to30 frequency response, is one of the best monitor speaker that I have heard for past few year.

Strengths:
Rich musical sound. Excellence extension at both end. Managed to handle various from of musical presentation with ease.

Weaknesses:
Bookshelf speaker is generally designed for smaller room, but 2001 definitely need more space to breathe.

Similar Products Used:
B&W 805 Nautilus Signature, Totem Mani-2, JM Lab Micro Utopia

Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $3400.00

Summary:
Clean & transparent sounding speaker that capable of producing deep and solid bass extension from such a small box. Great resolution and transient as well. The speaker stand is a must not an option to me personally. With the battleship structure stand and cable, this small wonder is capable to achieve exceptional all round sonic performance.

Strengths:
As above. plus solid built quality

Weaknesses:
might not sound as open as the bigger bros 2003

Similar Products Used:
B&W N805 signature, Dynaudio 1.3SE, Revel M20

Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $1995.00

Summary:
Phil Jones has done it again! He apparently took his $$ out of Platinum speakers to build his own company. These are INCREDIBLE: better than the old Reference 1, and that's rare air. (And the Ref 1 was $3,500/pair, last I looked)... Simply put, if you like HIGHLY articulate, clean response, great dynamics, incredible imaging, (and want to put your thumb in the eye of pretentious dealers and speaker builders who offer less performance for 2-5 X the money!), then find and try these. Caveats: (a) they NEED 100+ watts; (b) break-in is mandatory: after 200 hours, they still seem to be improving; (c) I've heard some electronics cause the imaging to collapse (relatively, but dramatically); (d) while the bass is awesome for a "bookshelf", you may hunger for the 2002 and/or 2003 (the latter is flat to 23 Hz, useable to 20 Hz!), and (e) at 57 lbs each(!), they need good stands, but the "matching" stands looks are "love 'em or hate 'em"!

Strengths:
ARTICULATE! Enormous range for a small 2-way; the most impressive build quality out there; cat-proof grill...

Weaknesses:
Power-hungry: 100 watts/channel clean power or don't bother. Also, you will hear the problems in your system...

Similar Products Used:
Genesis 700's, Energy Veritas 2.2, 2.3, Platinum Solo and Duo, Vandersteen 2CE Signature, Meadowlark Kestrel Hot Rods, Lineum 10, Totem (various), Sonus Faber(s), Snell(s), Thiele(s), B&W(s), Talon, Linn, etc. etc.

Review 4 of 5

Summary:
Great to look at with integrated stands, gold drivers, etc., that look like they could compete with the very best. Really piercing treble was not offset by solid bass foundation. Possible room problems so it may not have been just the speakers. Stunning looks and build.

Strengths:
Very well made! Beautiful cabinetry. Excellent bass!

Weaknesses:
Very hot treble.

Review 5 of 5

Price Paid:  $2500.00 from Audio Connection

Summary:
These are five star, reference caliber loudspeakers.
Wonderfully transparent. Clean, crisp, almost visual soundstage. Superb bass response given their size.
They easily fill a room with extraordinary sound. You'll stay up late at night just to sit and listen to the old
records or cds in your collection that you had almost forgotten about - and marvel at how good they
sound. As an added bonus, they good looking, with real rosewood exteriors.
These speakers require a good amp - at least 100wpc, in my opinion.
They are leaps and bounds above any other small monitor I have listened to, and at least the
equal of most full size speakers that cost (in some cases) many times more.
You MUST listen to these before you buy.

Strengths:
Image, bass, prrice

Weaknesses:
like power

Similar Products Used:
B&W Nautilus 805
