Sabotage! To the guy below - of course the rat shack cable works as well as the monster, they both transmit signal don''t they? the signal the monster transmits is much more pleasant to listen to than the radio shack - that''s the distinction to make. All the adjectives I''d use to describe this cable have been mentioned by the first two guys and in the Monster M2.2 review. The Z3 is a M2.2 with more shielding and an improved dielectric. it''s definitely at least as good as any other cable you''ll find (that i''ve tried) in it''s price range. Deaf ears should not be passing judgment on audio equipment.

Strength:

Incredible soundstage depth/width, imaging. Very clean, neutral sound, low noise.

I have always been a believer that good quality interconnects and speaker cable can make a difference in a systems sound but at the same time I have been somewhat skeptical about how much you have to spend to get improved sound quality. At $299 for a 10ft pair the Z3's are by no means cheap but what a difference they made in my system. Prior to the Z3's I was using standard 10 gauge Monster "zip cord" speaker cable. The Z3's pass a fantastic soundstage, very deep and wide. Imaging is just incredible, you can pick out each instrument very clearly. Highs are crisp and free of grain. If you like deep, tight bass you will love these cables. I can hear so much more musical information through these cables that I have found myself going back through my CD collection to enjoy the improvement. These cables come with the Monster Lock connectors which work pretty well. The cables are terminated with threaded pins and you can screw on spades, bananas, etc. The only possible drawback to these cables has nothing to do with sound. They are thick and somewhat inflexible. You have to have pretty heavy duty five way binding posts to accommadate these cables. I love these cables.

Strength:

soundstage is great ,more dynamic sound, clean and clear and nothing harsh about it.

I bought A pair Of 15 foot Z3 cables and A 10 footer for my cener chanel speaker looking for an impoovment in my systems sound. Well they shore as hell did. I noticed A new sound field that made everyting sound fuller, deeper or dynamic with A focused detailed sound that I call A soundstage. Wow ,I never heard instument or vocal placement like this before. And as they ran on my system for A few days the soundstage depth and with improoved with A scence of air around each instrument. The Z3 cables added nothing wrong to my system but only opened up my ears and wallet to A thing called audiophile.

Strength:

The Z cable certainly has a nice wrapping that will impress your friends. Monster is also kind enough to include a carrying case with your purchase, which makes returning the cables quick and easy.

Weakness:

Its grossly overpriced.

After a rather lengthy discussion with a salesman at Guitar Center I was persuaded to take home and try the Monster Z cable. Although I certainly noticed a subtle improvement in bass with the Z cables, I thought for the for $325.00,note that the $325,which includes the cost of the screw on adapters that must be purchased with the Monsters, I could certainly do better. While out and about at Radio Shack I came upon a set of 8 guage automotive cable rated at 60 amps. At $2 per foot/pair I thought this was certainly worth trying so I bought myself two ten foot strands for $20 and spent another $12 on bannana clips. After paying for the cable I went back into the store to show the salesman my vaunted Z series cable. Upon comparing it to the 8 guage radio shack automotive cable I noticed that the Radio Shack Cable had the same thickness as the Z Series, excluding the black wrapping, a good omen.
Bristling with anticipation I plugged in my new cables and found that they worked just as well if not better than the $325 dollar Monster. So it was out with the Monster and in with the 8 guage bannana plug equiped radio shack automotive cable.
My Radio Shack cable was certainly an excellent value however it had a number of drawbacks. The first drawback associated with the Radio Shack is the time and effort neccesary for mounting and sealing the bannana plugs, fiteen minutes of labor. Aethesitcally speaking the monster with its black "snake" wrapping was certainly fancier or snobbier in appearance than the Radio Shack cable, although the Radio Shack cable is quite striking in and of itself with its thick red coat which screams for your attention.
In conclusion I would recommend the Monster Cable to those internet billionares who lack the time but have the money to buy expensive and aesthetically pleasing cable. However for those who don't have billions or millions to burn I would suggest taking a few minutes to cut yourself a fine set of Radio Shack based audio cable. At sixty four dollars for two pairs the Radio Shack Cable is a deal thats too pass up, at compared to the deals that the "other" cable company is providing.
