Strength:

Not offensive or fatiguing to listen to- can represent a fair value if you can buy it cheap used.

Weakness:

Removes a lot of the midrange- high frequency "air" is definetely attenuated, not fairly priced (in my opinion).

Recently I sold my "reference" interconnect (balanced AudioQuest Anaconda) and needed to put in the old standby, the Monster M950i (2m in length) that I have laying around. To say that I was dissapointed would be an understatement- but, keep in mind that the cable that it was replacing cost about 10x as much. The Monster cable seems to suck out a lot of the midrange... it actually sounded best to me on heavy metal music. I actually enjoy this cable while listening to Slayer or Sepultura- the (apparent) midrange attenuation seemed to make the music somewhat heavier (I mean it made the guitars seem thicker, not heavy as in bass heavy). This cable also has a 'laid back' characteristic. There was a rounding of bass, but it didnt bother me much. Perhaps most notably, this cable raised the noise floor in my system by about 6 to 10db. This Monster picks up a lot of hum, and I have the interconnects no where near the power cords. Anyone buying this cable might want to go to radio shack and also but a couple ferrite clamps (also called RF chokes). I don't consider this interconnect a good value, and the lower end AudioQuest interconnects definetely outperform this one in every way. To sum up... The Monster isn't offensive to listen to, but it doesn't deliver like some other 100$ interconnects do.

Strength:

Everything.

Weakness:

None.

These Cables are great, I've owned them for few years now. Compared with the AQ Viper, they sound almost the same, which is not bad for $100 cables, compared to $200. Don't get me wrong I'm a Big Fan of AQ. They are worth the bucks, nice bass, great high, great resolution, smoothness, easier to hear. Here is my set up for the test, Wadia 860x, Krell KMA-100, Icon Parsec 3-way, Speakers cables:AQ Green HL and Elco Power cables. Happy Listening!

Strength:

Smooth and warm.

Weakness:

Not M 1000i

M 950i from Mosnter Cable is a fine offering. Below are my findings on this product.

Top. Smooth and open. KCAG and M 1000i are far more extended. Rating B-

Mid. Warm and natural. Nothing wrong in this space. Rating B

Low. Big and fat. Rating B+

In a nutshell, M 950i is an excellent product, but M 1000i is a better offering. The extra $70 per meter is well worth the additional cost. While M 950i provides the listener with good sound, M 1000i is a true glimpse in to high-end audio.

Strength:

It made my Dali 800 speakers come to new life, very transparent and dynamic makes a huge sound 3D.Very analytic so in short a good cable

Weakness:

To expensive, and i work better with bi-amp in midrange and tweeter than in bas, But conected to cd it is worth the price i think. And this turbine conectors you have to be careful using or you will end haveing a bitt of stereo equpment in your hand.

I think the above saids it all
The eqipment i use is.
Dali 800 speakers
Yamaha 1030 cd
Nad 1155 pre-amp
Thorens 166 mk2 (with van den hul cable)
Rotel 970 power-amp
Rotel 991 power-amp
Supra EFF-1 signal cable
Supra Ply 3.4 speaker cable
It made a big differance one this stereo.
Ill recomend trying it.

Strength:

Built great. It made a very big difference in my Home Theater System. Very strong connectors.

I am very, very satisfied with the Monster Cable M950I. I have been using them for about 2 1/2 years and they continue to sound great. I have never had any problems.

Great cables and build quality, Dont really know what larry is talkig about. Yes they do have that horrible tape to show signal direction, but it is also printed on the jacket of the cable. This is an ecxcellent cable to connect your preamp to your amp. I use them in my front outputs, do to the three way nature of these cables. I have 3 way speakers and these cables do an excellent job in transmitting the highs, mids, and lows seperately. I would look at Kimber PBJ also.

Strength:

gets out of the way

Weakness:

not much

Good cable, gets out of the way. Not much more to say than that. Many in this price range are comprable--no special deal at this price, but no problems either.

I started out building my system a couple of years ago. I worked up to some of the more expensive Monster Cable.
I didn't like three things about the cables (none of which have to do with sound). First, they have tape at one end with an arrow to indicate the signal direction. After a couple of months, the tape become gooey, sticky, and starts falling off. Second, they have rubber o rings on the connectors. After six months, the rings become brittle, decay, and fall off. Three, their "turbine" connectors Monster is so proud of should be outlawed. They ripped the RCA jack off of my TV. I called Monster about that, and they said it had "never happend before." When I told them the repair man had specifically asked if I had been useing that "damm Monster Cable", they became very quiet.

End result, I got Monster to buy back all of my cable, and I've switched to Kimber. I still have, unopened, a 2 meter run of M1000i which retails for $300 (anyone wants it, I'll sell it for $100), but I'm not interested in damaging my components.

Strength:

good cable overall for the price

a really good choice for a budget/mid-fi system. Wont regret. IMPORTANT: as with all components, allow ample burn in time before critical listening.

Use this between my pre-amp and power amp.1. Nice tight bass.
2. Smooth vocals.
3. Some roll of on the top end, good on to bright systems
where sharpness in vocals is a problem, tames them down makes
mid more natural less electronic.
