No weakness beisdes the antenna strengths not all there on mine. But bluetooth adapter works FLAWLESS no compression sounds. Nothing...

I have owned the G7700 since 1975. Back then I paid $1000.00 for it. Now 42 years later, I still have the same receiver. Had totally rebuild last year. Still sounds awesome.
Had many people wanted to buy it from me. I still say "NO".

I can't find anything that sounds like this. With the power, clarity, low distortion.

I had also, purchased a fully reconditioned G8000. Hooked that up to my G7500 speakers for one day. I had to re-hook up the G7700 receiver back. Now the G8000 receiver is for sale.

Hello friends. Make no mistake, this is one hot vintage receiver. At the time I bought it, (about 3 years ago) I was used to my Marantz 2275 and loved the sound quality but was looking for something a little more powerful. Well, this receiver fit the bill and then some. I knew little to nothing about stereo equipment at the time, all I knew was that the vintage receivers sounded better! And here this monster comes along at my local repair shop for $300. I looked it over and said to myself, "This thing's a monster, save your money and buy it." And that's exactly what I did. From the moment I hooked it up I knew this thing was cranking out some serious power. In fact my room mate, (a fellow stereo fanatic) was absolutely floored by it) as he declared, "This is the bomb-a** stereo." But, as they say, "Too much power is never enough". It didn't take me long before I was using an equilizer hooked to the tape monitor and thanx to the inadequate voltage coming from the wall in that old house we rented I couldn't turn the volume knob past "3" without the sound cutting out. (it sounded phenominal) But without the equilizer I could crank it past half volume, (about enough to shake the entire house). Anyways, I soon grew tired of the "sound cutting out" problem and decided to move it over to the other side of the upstairs. I was now unknowingly hooking it up to an outlet with grossly inadequate voltage. After a mere 5 minutes approximately, the receiver was fried. I promptly called my stereo repair guy (the same guy I bought it from) and explained, "My Sansui went Kaplui." He fixed it free of charge but reminded me that he could charge me for it. I took it back to him, waited for him to fix it, then promptly hooked it back up to the same outlet, which it then re-incinerated within 5 minutes! I then called the repair shop back to tell the man what happened, which he blamed on me, which meant that if I wanted it fixed again, I would have to pay for it. Well, I opted not to pay for it, as I had other vintage receivers which could "cope" with the inadequate voltage of the old house. Fast forward to present day: I live in my own house now with each and every outlet providing plenty of voltage, so that is not an issue. Unless I can re-purchase this receiver online for reasonable cost, this will be forever known to me as the one that got away.

My dad bought the g-7700 in 1982!! I still have it running with the original sub woofers just changed the tweeters and mids The g-7700 has so much power that i never cranked the volume pass the half way mark! For a 30 year old receiver, it sounds just as good as when my dad first got it. He gave it to me in 2000 and I've had my fair share of noise complaints. I was thinking of getting a new receiver buy why? It sounds so good! I think that it sounds better than the receivers of today!!!
