Being this is my first surround sound receiver my comparison will be limited. I'm only runing a 5.1 set up with Paridagm 6-se fronts and Bic center(DV 62clrs) and rear (DV62si) and a 100 watt powered Sony sub.
Over all this is a nice reciever for the 190.00 I paid. As others have stated it has it's limitations. The main one I noticed is that it only passes HDMI signal rather than processing it , which requires you to run a seperate cable for sound via digital cable or analog cables into the receiver. The receiver also automaticly shuts down the composite and S video upscale when the component inputs are used. You also have to assign an audio input to match the video input through the receivers digital program which is not a big deal after you figure it out. I would suggest reading the entire user manual before set up (lol) Like you should anyways! This is not a plug and play receiver. This unit only puts out 75 watts per channel (rms) rather than the circuit city advertised 80 wpc. This unit also came with a universal remote thats programable to both my Pioneer DVD and Sony HD TV., which the Circuit city site said it did not do. The automatic speaker set up(AUDYSSEY) was a breeze , it even lets you adjust the sound and volume of each speaker to your liking after the speaker set up is complete. The receivers digital processor acceps all digital formats and give you the option to change listing mode to your liking. The dolby digital surround sound is pretty grand I must say. The sound moves all over the room just like in a theater. The two channel stereo sound for listening to music is okay too not great but decent . The receiver also has a set spring clips to accept a set of speaker for channel B so you may have a two speaker set up in an other room .

There are better receivers out there, but you can't beat this one for the price .
