I managed to purchase the Vincent SA-T1 brand new in box for AUS$800. At that price it is a bargain, at RRP, less so. I currently own 3 other exceptional Pre-Amps and have heard many more. The little Vincent can't compete with my other 3 Pre's but that's understandable as they are more expensive. It falls down against higher quality pre's in having lesser soundstage, weight, dynamics and transparency. It has a a light delicate almost pretty treble, but lacks the weight of higher end Pre's, midrange is good for the money, when used in a hgh-end system complex bass passages can be a little strained. I am currently using the SA-T1 in my kitchen system and it does a fine job with some middle range equipment.

My overall rating is 3-3 1/2 stars, good. Value rating at the $800 I paid would be 4 1/2 stars, at RRP of $1500 the value rating would be only 3 stars.

So I would recommend this amp if you can pick one up at a nicely discounted price as I did.

I hade a E.A.R 864 befor, and i think this sa-t1 is a better pre.amp... much more 3D sound stage but the EAR864 was litel mor warmer..

I think this pre.amp must be the best buy under 4000$

Have had this in my system a few days now. Amp is SS Rotel RB 1080 and the SA-T1 is replacing a Rotel RC-1090 preamp.

First impression is the SA-T1 is lush, airy and dynamic. Much more detailed than the RC-1090. Nice rich mids.
The SA-T1 also has tone controls that you will never use as well as a loud button. They use to be popular back in the day. Build quality is also top notch. Nice wide sound stage, with nice bass and extended highs. Cant go wrong with this tubed preamp at a good price.
