Summary: Ok... lets set the record straight!!! I have read many reviews on this product and yes, there is a learning curb, but... and a big but... after a little patience this product rocks (btw - this product works on all Windows Operating Systems from 95 up) just take the time to try. to get the player to work with xp just install the CD that comes with it and use the patch reboot and make sure your player is hooked up through your usb port before powering up your computer.
Strengths: small compact, light, nice LCD readout, easy data transfer, easy to use buttons, great ear buds
Weaknesses: 64 MEG!!! do I need to say more... only 96kbs quality at the max unless you install other softwares. Realplayer is the bundle... again do I need to say more!!!

Summary: This MP3 player does have its problems..but given I paid $80 almost a year ago I can't complain.
This player requires you to use an outdated and unsupported version of RealJukebox. The CD which ships will not run under Win2k and even if you are still are using Win98 this version of RealJukebox was the "freebie" and does not support > 96kbs files to transfer to the device (which makes the audio quality suck!) you can still get around ALL of this.
1: If you want to be legit you can still find Free versions of the RealJukeBox on the net which will install under WIN2k. Once this is done you can either use the USB patch which came with the player or search for it on the web under "drivers philips rush". This will get you going but only using 96kbps transfers. (Also DO NOT try to upgrade to the latest REAL Player software which you will be asked to do each time...it won't support RUSH!).
2: If you dont mind breaking any rules...and I would really have to think hard before I said this was breaking a rule given the circstances! You can find versions of RealJukebox Plus which when you upgrade the "freebie" versoin will allow you higher and more acceptable audio quality clips (128kbps +).
One final complaint and warning...
My 1st player I had, something happened with the batteries, acid all inside the player...I thought it was the batteries which caused this...anyway I had it replaced by the Battery company (long story) and they send me a refirb one...I also had picked another player of ebay for $20, when I got the ebay one I noticed the same problem and once again my new refirb one I have seen this problem, I think it must be something with the material used in the casing??? But dont leave batteries in this player for a long period time.
Last two things I'm looking into:
1: Can I use 128MB flash cards?
2: Can I get this to work under LINUX..there is a group trying to get it to go...but the software encryption used by Philips to encode the tracks is the stalling point right now...(Given the Philps support I think they should give this scheme out so we can get more use out of this player!!)
So be warned..if you are much into staying up late searching for old versions of software and hacking around until you get it to work... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLAYER!!! But if you like a challenge, this is a fairly nice player to get at a good price.
Strengths: Size
Weaknesses: Software/Support
