Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $75.00 from circuit city

Summary:
It has good features, but terrible sound. It is small. Bad Sound Bad sound bad sound, otherwise, if you use the ghetto headphones it came with, you wont notice, but I listen with some Sennheiser headphones, I listen to details. Better off looking for an older high-end sony for SQ.

Strengths:
backlight, wireless remote, backlight

Weaknesses:
BAD SOUND

Similar Products Used:
hifi sony cd player, riovolt, newer sony cd player-I rejected

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $200.00 from WIZ I think

Summary:
worked great for a year was absolutly perfect but then it began to skip cds even if they were BRAND new but not all CDs just a select few this pissed me off so I ended up thrwing it across the room and it is no longer in one piece. So if you want one for about 1 year or so this is the one you want if not forget it. It is really tough though

Strengths:
Great sound recharge feature program mode shuffle repeat all and 1 strong

Weaknesses:
Stupid recharge lights after a year well... read on

Similar Products Used:
Old Sony Discman square and metal
GPX Imac colored kind
Newer Sony Discman

Review 3 of 4

Summary:
I have an XP-700. It sounded great for 10 months then started to inject noise and LOUD static when playing jazz or classical CDs. Seems okay for rock. I had it exchanced 4 times replacing it with the same model. Coincidentally, all 4 units had the same problem. The dealer was shocked out of his shoes about this too. I don't recommend this unit based on reliability.

Review 4 of 4

Summary:
RCA RP 2010 Portable CD Player
Portables get too little mention in Audiophile press. This unit is outstanding. I compared it to Philips and Panasonic players - one reason this one may be so great is the use of 18bit DAC, rather than the now-standard 1 bit. But, even more, the unit just sings through decent headphones. I tested Grado SR 60s, Erytomic in-ear buds and, best of all, the Beyer 990 pros. That combination was killer, better than using a seperate headphone amp. I usually find I am at the high end of the volume control. Not with these. RCA? Go figure. the 12 second ESP feature seemed to dull the sound slightly. No battery recharge. But, oh that sound! I hope this unit stays with us for awhile. Try one you won't believe your ears.

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
